Current Need

The Network/Desktop System Specialist works closely with IT, physicians, management team and staff to provide support and resources for the IT needs of the oncology practices in the US Oncology Network.  This role is key to the success of our organization by helping support the technology needs of the business to ensure that our physicians can provide the highest level of patient care.   

 

Under general direction, the Network/Desktop System Specialist provides service and support that is efficient, appropriate, and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Provides technical assistance and training to system users
  • Participates in needs assessments
  • Participates in product evaluations
  • Participates implementation planning, testing and trouble shooting
  • Participates in conversion planning and verification
  • Participates in ITIL processes

  • Identify areas within the practice that lack efficient process and procedure and help to drive agreed upon, efficient steps and practices for teams to follow that generate standard results.
Operations and Service Delivery
  • Develop and manage an overall service delivery process to ensure the effective and proactive delivery and management of IT services to US Oncology practices within the market.
  • Report on key performance indicators and identify issues and trends occurring within the Practices.
Project Implementations
  • Provide IT leadership and coordination to ensure delivery of practice projects on time, on budget and meeting scope and quality expectations.
Communications
  • Serve as a Market IT communicator ensuring that seamless communication occurs between physician practices.
  • Serve as an escalation path for all practice IT related problems and issues. 
  • Maintain a regular communication plan via conference call both with the Region Operations Manager and with each practice individually on an agreed upon frequency.  Utilize this meeting to review trends and open issues as well as communicate IT initiatives that are upcoming.
 
Day to day support
  • Provide IT Leadership to manage and successfully resolve day to day operational issues at the respective practices or operational areas.
  • Ensure close communication and collaboration with the help desk to ensure that they have available the information needed to address help desk calls for changes implemented or practice.
Financial Success
  • Work closely with the Regional Operations Manager to manage costs.  Exercise good judgment when making cost decisions when developing solutions for practice projects and initiatives. 

Position Description
Provides technical support to internal or external networked/ desktop systems. Installs, configures, and troubleshoots workstations, and servers in a heterogeneous environment. Maintains password security, data integrity, and file system security. Communicates highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel. Recommends hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements
2+ years experience in desktop and networked systems support; including LANs and/or WANs

Critical Skills
  • Introductory knowledge and some hands-on experience with the planning, design, implementation and troubleshooting of networked systems
  • 2+ year’s desktop systems experience.
  • Some subject matter knowledge on the full spectrum of  IT building blocks including packaged software applications, software applications development, network, data centers, end user computing, telephony, mobility solutions, systems integration, reporting tools, etc.

Additional Knowledge & Skills
Working knowledge of procedures, utilities and program scripts, and good written and verbal communication skills

Education
4-year degree or equivalent experience

Certifications/Licensure
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certification, highly desired
