Network Telecom Engineer - Oracle Managed Cloud Services

Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure team is seeking a bright, motivated, hardworking individual to fill our Network Telecom Engineer position. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best in class compute, storage, networking, database, and security. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethics, attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, work on his own with minimal supervision and a commitment to Operational Excellence.

The Network Telecom Engineer m onitors network performance and implements performance tuning when necessary. Also manages firewalls, load balancers, VPN's, switches, routers and other network devices . Actively participates in incident management, asset management, change management, project management, and continuous improvement of network environment. As well as creates and updates documentation utilizing organizational standards to ensure retention and collaboration of knowledge.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 4 years experience as a Network/Logistics Engineer/Technician.
  • Experience with the design and implementation of networks.
  • Experienced with installing, monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links.
  • Strong knowledge of network routing/switching (VLANs, trunking, spanning tree, mst, rstp, vpc, link aggregation, routing protocols, multi cast, other LAN protocols).
  • Experienced in configuring and support of Cisco routers, switches, other LAN devices. (Cisco 6500,4900,2900 Nexus 9k,5k,2k)
  • Experience in configuration and administration of routing and security protocols (ACL's, BGP, OSPF, IPSec, SSL).
  • Experience with packet capture(sniffer) and analyzation .
  • Experience with Juniper Firewalls (SRX and Netscreen) .
  • Experience with F5 load balancers (LTM, GTM)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills .
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    Must be a self-starter & team player with ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Available to work on an On-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support .

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical Certifications such as JNCIA, CCNA, CCNP and CISSP preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering

As part of the Network Services team within Oracle*s Global Information Technology organization, you will be responsible for the delivery of IT services to Oracle*s businesses worldwide, these services include the management and delivery of network infrastructure.

Maintain records of equipment failure and liaise with engineers and suppliers as necessary. Escalate client problems according to established procedures. Manage the network using network management tools, analyze network performance and recommend network enhancements. Analyze network performance to ensure adequate bandwidth for business needs. Recommend enhancements to the network infrastructure, and with management agreement enhance proactive network management tool set. Troubleshoot network problems on the campus network, remote locations and country wide area network though to resolution. Perform Project Engineering including specification definition, design of solution in compliance with corporate standards, implementation, testing through to production. Respond to monitor alarms to identify the root cause of an outage and coordinate the corrective action in a timely fashion. Provide on-call support services as needed and provide assistance to others.

Job duties are varied and complex, needing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years relevant work experience and degree/diploma in computer science or IT discipline.
