Unison Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Aviation, is a world leader in the design & manufacture of electrical components, sensors and systems for aircraft, industrial, marine, military and space. We presently have an opening for a 2nd shift Inspector in our Sensors Department, working from 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM.
In this role, you will:
+ Participate in and support team initiatives
+ Receive guidance from Norwich Inspect Level 3 & 4 employees
+ Cross-train other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience
+ Compliantly complete all written and / or electronic labor tracking documentation
+ Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of product deficiencies, new processes and / or ideas, etc
+ Provide feedback to appropriate support functions
+ Possess specific knowledge in one or more of the following disciplines: Receiving Inspection / Electrical Inspection / Mechanical Inspection
+ Use manual and / or automated measurement / testing equipment to assure the quality of products
+ Identify and document non-conforming parts, while utilizing Oracle to maintain inspection records
+ Inspect all raw materials and purchased parts to determine conformance to design requirement
+ Use statistical process control and statistical quality control techniques as required
+ Report problems to Group Leader and / or Coach
+ Possess abilities to perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third party requirements (i.e. - audit, customer requirements, etc.)
+ Assist support functions in root cause corrective analysis
+ Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products
+ Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures
+ Other duties as required
+ This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
+ High School Diploma / GED
+ Minimum of 1 year of experience in Inspection

Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures
Ability and willingness to work 2nd Shift
Ability to pass a Visual Acuity Exam
+ Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools and measuring devices (i.e. - dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
+ Proficient in use of basic computer applications, such as Oracle and Microsoft applications
+ Basic understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation
+ Understanding of basic mathematical principles (may have to do conversions to decimal system and use geometry)
+ Basic knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances
+ Basic knowledge of Quality System requirements (i.e. - AS9100 requirements)
+ Understanding of special process operations such as brazing / soldering / welding / coating, etc. as required within department
+ Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain braze and weld inspection certifications as required
+ General knowledge of electrical components and test methods.
+ Prior knowledge of electrical test method to include ohm meter, gauss meter, surge test, hi pot, etc.
+ General knowledge of assembly techniques
+ Prior experience in a self-directed teaming environment
+ Prior experience in a manufacturing environment; Lean manufacturing knowledge
+ Previous inspection experience, preferably 1-3 years of experience
