This role will be responsible for training, mentoring and coaching nurse consultants.



  • Reviews assigned or escalated cases, to determine if Life or Disability insurance should be approved, declined, or pended for further medical review.
  • Responsible for training, mentoring, and coaching 8-12 nurse temps each year during peak season.
  • Acts as the lead nurse to oversee the underwriting team and help manage the nurse queues.
  • Compiles, reviews, records, and analyzes data to make underwriting decisions.
  • Follows established Statement of Health policies and practices to resolve issues.
  • Must be able to work well within a team of 15-20 during non-peak, and a team of 40-60 during peak season.
  • Ability to multi-task; processing applications, answering phones, and helping people on the team with questions.
  • Interpersonal communication skills must be strong.
  • Written communications must be professional.
  • Must be willing to handle escalated phone calls with customers, applicants, brokers, etc.
  • Participate or lead smaller-scale projects within team.
  • Review and update documentation and work instructions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required.


  • High school Diploma with current RN License & current state license
  • Ability to put the team first.
  • In order to post for this position, you need the proper work authorization to work in the country where the position is located and not require relocation assistance
  • 2+ years of Insurance claims experience
  • Training background

Nursing Degree with current state RN license
