Job Description:
Reporting to the Director , Labor and Delivery Manager is responsible for assisting with the overall daily operations of L&D and the Prenatal Unit (PNU) to achieve quality improvement, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives established by upper management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with managing daily operations and activities of 9-bed Labor and Delivery and 7-bed PNU
  • Provide high-quality patient care to and act as a liaison with patients and their representatives, physicians, and employees
  • Support the Director to ensure efficient operation of the department and optimum use of resources to maximize productivity and minimize costs
  • Communicate regularly with Director to gather data, provide consideration, ensure consistency in implementation of policies and procedures
  • Assist with supervising and mentoring staff to ensure their performance and the accomplishment of departmental responsibilities
  • Ensure department compliance with JCAHO and all applicable agencies (local, state and federal)

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent preferred or working towards same, Master's degree in Nursing or Allied Health preferred
  • Current BLS and ACLS or agreement to obtain by 90 day probationary period
  • NRP and STABLE within the first 6 months
  • Advanced Fetal Monitoring course within first year of employment
  • 3 years of experience in Labor & Delivery Nursing required
  • 1 year charge nurse or other nursing management experience preferred
