Operation Systems Manager, Technical Operations

Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting for an Operation Systems Manager, Technical Operations.  This positon can be based in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, Fort Washington, PA or Lancaster, PA and may require up to 25% travel.

The Operation Systems Manager is the overall process owner of the Johnson and Johnson Consumer Inc., US-OTC; MES and ERP systems support.  She/He provides direction to individual operational system owners within the manufacturing site in order to identify areas of opportunities, assess business process impact, and support future system functionality design decision making for SAP,  MES, and others applicable systems.  Is responsible for knowledge transfer and sustainability of optimal processes by managing a group of direct and indirect cross-functional resources.  Collaborates with central support organization and may interact with Consumer Governance teams.

The Operation Systems Manager, Technical Operations will provide leadership and coordination of the applications support teams across Johnson and Johnson Consumer Inc., US-OTC sites (Fort Washington, Lancaster and Las Piedras) and will develop and mentor system support teams to instill a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability, as well a supporting guidance for flawless execution (on time and within budget) for projects that interface to the MES and SAP systems, as well as ensure the proper training of staff, and the maintenance/support for the applications.

She/He will also interact with all stakeholders at all levels, from Senior Management to Site Leadership teams to peers in the IT & Automation community and abroad. She/He will also grow and enhance the technical expertise in both the MES and SAP systems, as well as the interfaces to the shop floor automation systems.

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required
  • Previous Project Management experience with impact to multiple functional groups within manufacturing locations is required
  • At least 5 years of previous people management experience is required
  • Previous experience in Consumer Healthcare, Pharmaceutical or other regulated industry is required
  • Previous experience in Automation or systems supporting manufacturing sites is preferred
  • Good knowledge and application of pharmaceutical/OTC/medical devices product and process development; life-cycle management of this class of products including strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Outstanding leadership capability: the ability to motivate and inspire system support engineering teams to drive significantly increased performance through technical innovation, technical depth and change.
  • Driven technical leader with excellent communication, analytical and leadership skills while possessing the ability to influence and constructively challenge cross-functional technical project teams and business partners to achieve project goals.
  • Thorough knowledge of structured methodologies for software engineering, applications, and manufacturing systems of controllers and interfaces is required.
  • Previous experience with MES software systems (preferably WERUM) interfacing to ERP (preferably SAP) is required. Prior experience ensuring that applications are consistent with the Electronic Records & Signature regulation requirements for audit trails, security, backup, and retention is preferred. Prior experience assisting in the identification, evaluation, selection, and implementation of third-party systems is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of all phase of the Computer System Validation life-cycle is required
  • Prior participation in vendor selection and evaluation is preferred.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of meeting project objectives by successfully managing, tracking and implementing successful strategies in regards to scope, quality, time and cost.  The ability to successfully execute several projects concurrently is required.
  • Strong presentation skills. Previous people management experience required. Must have demonstrated experience in systems development, equipment development and validation, including statistical analysis, project management, design for manufacturability and lean.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership in problem-solving and decision-making; to collaborate with and influence business partner leaders with a focus on data, science, and technology
  • Ability to constructively challenge cross-functional project teams and business partners to achieve project goals and Johnson and Johnson Consumer Inc., US-OTC strategic plans
