This Operational Risk Consultant role is an exciting opportunity to join a team and function committed to providing Wells Fargo with world-class risk management. Wells Fargo Retirement Operational Risk is searching for a highly motivated Operational Risk Consultant to be located in either Minneapolis, MN or Charlotte, NC. This is an exciting opportunity for qualified candidates to join a team of professionals who are solutions-oriented and customer-focused.

This position is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring a risk-based operational risk program to identify and mitigate operational risk associated with Third Party Risk Management. This position acts as a resource to the assigned business units for the risk assessment process, coordinates training and completion of risk assessments, and reviews risk assessments to ensure quality and that key dates and critical requirements are being met. This position will consult with business unit representatives, provide education and training, and assist in the completion of all program requirements. This includes ensuring that third-party relationships and engagements are properly documented within the Third Party Risk Information Management System (TRIMS), and ensuring that all appropriate assessments and reviews are completed in accordance with operational risk and regulatory policies and requirements.

This position partners with key contacts and various levels of management within Retirement, Supply Chain Management, Legal, Technology, Information Security and other Wells Fargo groups.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing the Retirement lines of business with consulting and guidance to identify, assess, and mitigate operational and regulatory risk in business activities, projects, and initiatives.
  • Oversight and maintenance of the Third Party Risk Information System (TRIMS).
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with line of business, corporate regulatory and operational risk peers.
  • Evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products and internal controls; assisting the business to develop and implement corrective action plans when appropriate.
  • Oversight, coordination, production, communication, and training of risk-based policies and procedures.
  • Identifies training opportunities - may design/coordinate the development of training programs.
  • Coordinates production of periodic performance reports for management, including but not limited to trend analysis and recommended strategies.
Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both
  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: additional compliance, additional operational risk management, IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience; or a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience with Retirement or Trust lines of business.
  • Experience with WF Third Party Risk Management Program requirements
  • Working knowledge of Third Party Risk Information Management System (TRIMS)
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with all levels of staff to include management.
  • Proven critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience as a collaborator who has built successful relationships and influenced across the business lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively manage competing priorities and functions
