The Wells Fargo Technology Risk Management team is responsible for driving the execution and comprehensive view of risk across Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) and the firm by instilling a risk management culture where businesses are accountable for understanding and managing their risk. Technology Risk Management is organized around shared and divisional responsibilities to provide first-line-of-defense risk management support to drive the execution of the Technology Risk Management Program.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking an Operational Risk Consultant to join the Technology Risk Management Business Services Team. This position will engage with multiple risk and control stakeholders / lines of defense across Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) to assist in developing a risk training and awareness program. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to: conducting needs assessments across the various teams related to training, interpreting business outcomes to identify training needs, understanding risk culture and deliverables to influence the training plan, and be a single point of contact on all training development needs with our Learning and Development partners.

As part of the First Line of Defense, this role provides leadership support to ensure that Technology Risk Management develops and implements a comprehensive Training and Awareness program that is aligned to foundational risk frameworks. The role will primarily support the development and rollout of the annual plan along with partnering with the appropriate SMEs to build content.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement a Risk Training and Awareness program that supports our risk culture and is grounded in foundational risk elements (i.e. frameworks, policies, etc.)
  • Track and measure results of plan to ensure that results are in line with intended outcomes and business objectives
  • Develop content to support web-based training and ad-hoc training in partnership with SMEs while leveraging industry materials
  • Producing management reporting and tracking of training participants as applicable
  • Partnering with second and third line of defense to inform, educate, and collaborate on needs and development activities
  • Contribute to group wide communications as needed

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • Program management experience
  • Experience communicating with business partners and project managers
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, LiveMeeting and SharePoint) skills
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor, (CISA) Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional, (CISSP) or other risk management discipline certification
  • Experience communicating in both written and verbal formats with senior executive-level leaders
  • Process design or improvement experience
  • A BS/BA degree or higher

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience implementing training and or awareness programs for a large business unit
  • Experience developing content that addresses gaps in knowledge across an organization
  • 5+ Years risk management experience with demonstrated leadership skills and ability to mature risk management programs.
  • Experience in implementing large change programs in a complex environment
  • Advanced Enterprise Risk Management experience and perspective
  • Experience successfully navigating and influencing global financial institutions on risk management topics
  • Experience in evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures and controls.
  • Experience in assessing risk, writing issues, and developing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, especially with difficult topics when partnering with senior management. This includes the willingness and ability to question decisions, understand direction and escalate issues, where necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience with both strategic and tactical approaches to risk management.
  • Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and deliver results quickly.
  • Ability to problem solve and navigate ambiguity
