Job Description
Workday is looking for a Business Operations Analyst on the Tech Business Operations and Planning team, which is responsible for strategic planning and decision support for the Infrastructure and Development organizations. This role requires a highly analytical and collaborative individual who will support key projects and processes for the operations planning, finance, procurement, and infrastructure teams. This role will include (but not limited to): data aggregation and analytics, dashboard development, and decision modeling to support the ongoing improvement of long-term forecasts, strategic projects, and operational improvements. In addition, this person must have a keen eye for detail, be able to provide insights based on large (and sometimes incomplete datasets) and have an eagerness to drive change and alignment within the organization.

Responsibilities:

Overall, the responsibilities will scale based on the person's experience and level of hire. This includes the following:
  • Manage data gathering and aggregation, decision analysis, and forecasting models for the Tech Business Operations and Planning team
  • Conduct key analyses and forecast reconciliations to improve current infrastructure and hardware growth models
  • Build dynamic scenario models to evaluate the infrastructure impact due to various technology, architecture, and operational improvement options
  • Aid in the development of cost/benefit analyses to build business cases for new initiatives and projects
  • Develop business metrics and build/maintain a KPI dashboard to facilitate real-time decision making and initiative updates
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build upon and improve ability to conduct analyses to aid in strategic decision making
  • Drive strategic initiatives from conception to execution and discover opportunities that improve our business

Skills and Experience:

  • 2-5 + years' experience in an operational area with focus on data analysis, modeling, strategic planning
  • Extensive experience gathering/analyzing/validating data, developing/maintaining dashboards, and building analytical models from scratch
  • Proven experience in managing large datasets, developing insights from ambiguous data, and facilitating team decisions
  • Working knowledge & demonstrated interest of data center/hardware technology, tech infrastructure and cloud (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability to distill complex ideas and strategies into simple, actionable recommendations
  • Capable of independently and proactively seeking information, solving conceptual problems, corralling resources, and delivering results in challenging situations
  • A team player who works collaboratively and effectively across a diverse set of functions, backgrounds, and working styles
  • Willingness and desire to learn new skills and a keen eye for continuous improvement
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent with coursework in Operations, Business, or Industrial Engineering
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with SQL, Tableau, Visio, Access a plus
