It's fun to work in a company where people truly believe in what they're doing. At Workday, we're committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business of enterprise applications. We work hard, and we're serious about what we do. But we like to have a good time, too. In fact, we run our company with that principle in mind every day: One of our core values is fun.

About the Team
Workday's Operations Lab is a new team that is part of the Environments Operations team that is responsible for the deployment and support of the Workday customer facing environment. The main responsibility of this new role is to developer tools and utilities that will make the life of the Operations team easier. We can create new tools to fill in gaps or replace existing tools that either need a facelift or maybe it simply cannot support our customer environments in the 6 global data centers for which the Workday application runs on. Our mission is to focus 100% on Production Operations by helping the business deliver new products and features, supporting the growing customer base, and maintaining operational excellence.

In short, you'll be our number one draft pick. Be prepared though for some of our work to be throw away work if a better tool is introduced by another team or even an outside vendor. Best idea wins so there is no room for someone with an ego. You will collaborate with other teams in Environments Operations, Security, Environments Administration, and Development to design and operationalize new products/technologies before deployment into production environments.

HOW YOU CONTRIBUTE TO OUR VISION:
• You will be our developer that will create software tools that will solve operational problems. Thus the title of an Operations development Engineer.
• You will be given a problem to solve and a general idea what needs to be done and you will be expected to run with that.

ABOUT YOU:
• You have written code around infrastructure and operations automation and have solved multiple problems by automating your way out of them. You have removed yourself from repeating mundane tasks.
•You understand the importance and impact that good operations can have on the rest of a product and the positive ripple effects that it can have across an entire engineering organization
• Whenever there was a technology you did not understand, you grabbed the book and figured it out.
• You have good knowledge of a scripting language (e.x. Ruby, Bash, Perl, etc.)
