Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for an experienced Operations Technician for its Geismar, LA facility.
Primary responsibilities include working in a plant environment, and filling high pressure CO Tube Trailers. Specific duties include performing residual and final product analysis, conducting equipment inspections, and the loading and unloading of CO trailers. Candidates must be comfortable working 12 hour shifts and working weekends.
Additionally, it is also expected that the successful candidate will eventually progress through the various levels of operational responsibilities, with goal of becoming a fully qualified plant operator.
The Operator Technician is responsible for controlling and monitoring a number of processes in the production of gaseous hydrogen, carbon monoxide and syngas including the following:
-Assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs, instrument calibrations and electrical troubleshooting.
-Participate in the basic safety process as a key member of the Site Safety committee and sharing responsibility for the site's overall safety performance.
-Provide direct interface with the pipeline and merchant customers.
-High school diploma or equivalency
-Must have a minimum of 2 years plant process experience and/or Process Technology Degree/Certification
-Commitment to safety
-Strong oral and written communications skills
-Must have strong computer skills especially with Excel spreadsheets
-Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
-Will be exposed to high noise levels.
-Be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.
-Elevated work required.
-Strong mechanical aptitude and/or military
-Team player that is flexible
-Must be a self starter and willing to work alone at times.
-willing to work overtime as needed
-willing to take 24 hour on call responsibilities on a rotating basis
