Project Managers are responsible for working with our clients to plan and manage the delivery of an Oracle CPQ engagement, following the BIF methodology. They own the client relationship and are responsible for the project resources and financials. Individuals at this level may be assigned to operate within a portfolio, in which case a more experienced project manager may be assigned to provide arms length guidance. Beyond project delivery, they are expected to manage change requests and contract extensions, as well as assist in up sell / cross sell activities within an account, and in pursuit of new sales.
Candidates should have delivered multiple full lifecycle projects in a consulting project management role. They must have strong client facing skills, strong communication skills and ideally have experience in consulting in the sales process space (CRM, but may consider ERP depending on other experience). Travel associated with the role can be from 30 to 80%, depending on the client location. PMI certification is not essential, but could be a benefit
In addition to project management, candidates should have experience with a CPQ application, or some combination of the following, where they played the role of a project manager:
• Consulting (software and services)
• Packaged software implementation
• CRM and/or ERP
Oracle CPQ Professional Services are consulting professionals that focus on implementing the Oracle CPQ Solution.
The majority of our resources are currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area, at Oracle HQ, and in Deerfield IL, which is just outside of Chicago.
The Western Region is looking for resources at all levels and will consider qualified individuals who are close to a major airport in the region. However, the preference would be individuals who are based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Southern California, or Denver.
A typical project will span 6 to 9 months and uses our Cloud OUM implementation methodology (CPQ Cloud Implementation Framework).
A project team is generally made up of 4 resources, a project manager, a solution architect, an implementation consultant lead and an implementation consultant.
Project scope is usually focused around the Oracle CPQ's core functionality areas of configuration, pricing, quotation generation and enabling the sales process and workflow.
A fully competent project management professional who has a broad understanding of solutions and industry best practices. This first-level project management position provides consistent creative and high quality solution leadership ensuring project quality and timely delivery within budget to the customer's satisfaction.
Employs independent judgment in guiding moderately complex activities involved in the successful implementation of an integrated business solution, ensuring project quality and timely delivery within budget to the customer's satisfaction. Analyzes business needs to help ensure Oracle's solution meets the customer's objectives by combining industry best practices and product knowledge. Effectively applies Oracle's methodologies, policies, and procedures while adhering to contractual obligations, thereby minimizing Oracle's risk and exposure. As a project lead, assists project team with aspects of their roles. Effectively influences decisions at the management level of customer organizations. Ensures deliverables are acceptable and works closely with the customer to understand and manage project expectations. Supports business development efforts by pursuing new opportunities and extensions. Collaborates with the consulting sales team by providing domain credibility. Manages the scope of small projects and sub-projects.
6-8 years of experience relevant to this position including 0-5 years of project management experience. Demonstrated ability to follow solid project management principles. Comfortable working in a matrix management environment. Strong communication skills to deal with internal stakeholders, customers, and vendors. Product, technology or industry expertise relevant to the portfolio focus. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Ability to travel as needed.
