The Information Retrieval and Machine Learning group (IRML) in Oracle Labs is working to develop, scale and deploy Machine Learning throughout all of Oracle's Products and Services.
You will be part of a team within Oracle Labs whose role is to acquire and manage the data for research. The Oracle Secure Research Data Repository (OSRDR) is a company-wide resource available to research and development teams that provides the environment to store and process sensitive data. This team manages the process to acquire and curate the data used for high-value research.
As the Data Librarian, you will be responsible to catalog and maintain the description of the data that comes into the data repository. Your ongoing responsibility will be to build and maintain a "dictionary" of all the various data streams available at Oracle, a task that is made more challenging due to the rapid expansion of Oracle's Cloud business. You will interact with functional and technical people in many parts of Oracle to understand the data elements and then organize that information to facilitate new research and uses of the data. The position requires strong project management and communication skills. A technical background is necessary to understand the data elements and to be able communicate effectively with the data providers and users.
Specific duties include:
• Define the data catalog and how it will be used
• Maintain the catalog over time as data sources change and new usage requirements emerge
• Create and maintain online collateral for users of the catalog
• Liaison with data providers (both internal and external to Oracle) to understand the data in order to catalog it
• Liaison with data users within Oracle to identify the appropriate data for their needs
• Assist as needed in the approval process to inbound new data sources
• Identify opportunities for workflow and process improvement
• Document the process and work continuously to improve it
Qualifications:
Manage the development and implementation process of a specific company product.

Manage the development and implementation process of a specific company product involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products. Plan and direct schedules and monitor budget/spending. Monitor the project from initiation through delivery. Organize the interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget constraints. Assign and monitor work of systems analysis and program staff, providing technical support and direction.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Seven years of project management, product design or related experience preferred.
