PBX Operator: Full Time 40 hours per week.
Shift: Days, Evening Rotate.

Position Summary: This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke's Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.

Working together in a healthy environment and as part of an incredible team, the PBX operator is a vital position and is responsible for the ongoing operations of the communications switchboard functions of the hospital. The PBX operator responds to all incoming telephone calls on a multiple line computer based telephone switchboard. Performs and is responsible for all overhead and wireless device text paging. Ability to work in a fast pace environment handling numerous callers during peak periods. Excels in interpersonal communication, customer service and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Assist patients, visitors and staff in a courteous manner. Serves as a primary contact and resource for the hospital. Maintains confidentiality per hospital policy. Demonstrate an ongoing knowledge of hospital emergency procedure, plain language codes, making calls to police and fire departments as required. Responsible for the monitoring and reporting all safety alarm systems. Skill to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to converse effectively and to understand orders given under emergency conditions. Basic knowledge of personal computer and software applications. Flexibility to work other shifts as needed. Competitive shift differentials available for night and weekend shifts. Aptitude to fulfill these various duties without constant direct supervision.
Special Qualifications: Ability to retain and process large amounts of information. Multitasking skills. Typing skills. Basic computer knowledge.

Experience : Previous PBX Operator, telephone call center or clerical setting experience helpful.
