This position provides medical services within the scope of a Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare providers. The incumbent provides services to their employees and coordinates care across company medical facilities, and with community health care providers and company case administrators (such as Leave Management and Workers' Compensation). This role provides clinical evaluation and urgent care assessment, treatment and/or referral for occupational and non-occupational medical conditions. Other tasks include determining fitness for duty, functional capacity and medical restrictions for employees in relation to job demands, and providing assessment and consultation on accommodation and placement issues. The incumbent performs health surveillance examinations and determines medical qualification for the company's Occupational Health Examination program and for international assignments. Qualified applicants should have the ability to assess existing or new medical conditions through clinical interviews, medical history reviews, physical examinations, and interpretation of laboratory tests and radiological examinations. They should also have the ability to determine whether employees with medical conditions are fit for duty and able to perform their essential job functions. This includes the ability to assign a working diagnosis, formulate differential diagnoses considering epidemiology, environmental and community characteristics, and synthesize collected data, clinical course and other pertinent data to a definitive diagnosis. Applicants must have a basic knowledge of the initial management of emergent and urgent care conditions such as: cardiac arrest, myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, major trauma, toxic exposure, major burns or other life threatening conditions. Specialized knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of occupational medicine is highly desirable, including experiential understanding of the relationships between workplace injuries, exposures (e.g., chemicals, physical agents) and disease, including knowledge of toxicological principles, hazard identification, and risk assessment. Applicants should have knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Illness and Injury recordkeeping, Workers' Compensation principles (especially in Washington state), and disability accommodations. Applicants must have a current professional license in Washington State as a PA-C. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications must be current.
