The Assessment Response Center (ARC) is a state of the art Behavioral Health clinical assessment and patient placement function that is located on the Memorial Hospital campus . The ARC clinical team is composed of Therapists, Social Workers, Counselors and Nurses who provide mental health assessments for patients of all ages located throughout the hospitals of the HCA South Atlantic Division who may benefit from inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care. GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:


The Placement Specialist responds to phone calls, fax, and e-mail requests for information, admission, transfer, and other non-clinical information. This role supports the clinical assessment team by assuring rapid response and facilitation of requests for psychiatric services.


DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Responds to phone calls quickly, demonstrating good customer service skills and manages the call queue
  • Gathers initial information which is communicated to the clinicians for assessment and next steps
  • Helps to locate available resources and coordinates information to support patient disposition
  • Coordinates and participates with appropriate parties and physicians throughout the patient inquiry, referral, admission, treatment, discharge, and AOC notification process
  • Supports the coordination of the admission process, including patient presentation, bed placement, and transport
  • Supports patient throughput by conducting follow up calls and notifications in a timely manner
  • Documents actions in a timely and thorough manner, utilizing the appropriate computer software
  • Tracks and reports on all key indicators related to calls, assessment, admissions, and transfers
  • Gathers information and develops reports outlining activities as directed including volume, response time, and outcomes
  • Ensures patient rights and confidentiality
  • Provides input, suggestions, and support appropriately
  • Participates as an active member of the multidisciplinary team
  • Attends team meetings as scheduled
  • Completes additional duties as assigned


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Able to type, at minimum, 40 WPM
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an ability to adapt to and learn new computer software
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills and an ability to act on multiple tasks
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize
  • Possesses an ability to follow established policy and procedures when performing job functions
  • Demonstrates sound judgment

Qualifications:
Education:
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field is required; or
  • Degree in Nursing with experience as outlined below

Licenses/Certifications:
  • No specific licensure/certification required
  • Some type of Behavioral Health INTERN license (ISW, IMH, IMT) is strongly preferred

Experience:
  • At least 1 year experience in a behavioral healthcare setting is preferred
  • Experience working in a call center or similar environment is preferred
Shift:
  • NIGHT shift coverage - please do not apply if you cannot over overnights
  • rotating weekends and rotating holidays are required
