Johnson & Johnson, Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Planning Excellence Senior Manager. This position is to be located preferably in Somerville, NJ, Irvine, CA, or Brussels, Belgium and will be reporting into the Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Supply Chain. 

The Ethicon Surgical Care business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies—including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices—that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women’s health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon Surgical Care business combines products and services of two market-leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. Planning Excellence Senior Manager Responsibilities:

Developing and leading strategy for the OE/CSS planning processes & systems group
Providing leadership and vision to identify opportunities
Implementing solutions for transformational improvements, through the use of Process Excellence, Lean practices or other appropriate methodologies
Providing planning process subject matter expertise and thought leadership
Developing and maintaining knowledge on current processes & systems needed for supply chain planning and Working with partners across the organization to determine business opportunities and keep the planning processes in line with the business needs
Benchmarking and leveraging best practices across business units, franchises and outside J&J
Driving planning optimization projects to ensure process reliability and create global visibility of the supply chain
Ownership of project portfolio management, prioritization and project status tracking for the OE/CSS Business Process & systems group
Talent development and resource planning / management of the Planning Processes & Systems group
Supervising Managers and analysts in different regions
Reviewing/providing input to associates’ performance and development
Representing the planning process & optimization group in cross franchise / functional initiatives and strategy discussions.
Ensuring availability of the planning results and data summaries to functional planning groups in all locations
Communicating and coordinating with various business units to resolve planning issues; acting as an interface between the Global Supply Chain business user community, leadership and the IT organization for various issues (not necessarily related to planning systems)
Implementing training program and knowledge transfer across the organization


Bachelor’s degree is required with preference in Information Management, Supply Chain, Engineering or related discipline

A minimum of Ten (10) years’ experience in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or Manufacturing is required

Must possess a minimum of 4 years ‘of supervising experience  

Global management experience is preferred 

Experience working within a global supply chain is preferred 

Experience leading multi-site & cultural change management strategy is required 

Excellent project management & communication skills are required

Demonstrated presentation skills to all levels including VPs and senior leadership

Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills

Demonstrate sound decision-making and influencing skills

Knowledge of advanced planning systems like PDP, Manugistics, JDE ERP, SAP APO, SAP ECC, OMP+, or JDA preferred 

Ability to develop and maintain business partnerships at all levels of the organization

Strong data analysis and problem solving skills

Ability to translate complex situations into simple working solutions

Supply chain experience within the medical device or healthcare industry is preferred 

High level of personal initiative, able to work with limited supervision

Demonstrated experience working with global user communities to meet complex needs

Very good understanding and high comfort level with complex processes & systems is required 

Aptitude for planning and good understanding of end-to-end planning processes

Sound understanding operations management / inventory management is required 

Green Belt/ Black Belt/ APIC CPIM certifications or equivalent are preferred
