WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
In your role as an Health & Safety Manager at Kellogg, you will be part of our success by:

  • Leading programs to ensure plant is in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Providing compliance specifications/recommendations to Engineering & Maintenance resources on the following areas: Machine Guarding, Lockout/Tag out, Flammable & Combustible Liquids, Fire Protection & Prevention Systems/Techniques, Ergonomics & Manual Material Handling, Powered Industrial Equipment, Life Safety Code, Confined Space, and Hazard Communication
  • Preparing, maintaining, and submitting all health & safety related records and reports required by the Company and regulatory agencies, including the OSHA 300 log and safety incident/injury records
  • Leading the development, review, and implementation of site emergency response programs (e.g., facilitate site level drills)
  • Interfacing with regulatory and public sector safety authorities as appropriate
  • Participating in Process Hazard Analysis for Combustible Dust and other risk assessments, such as machine guarding, confined space and fall protection
  • Developing, reviewing and revising site safety plans
  • Prioritizing major hazards and risks across the site, and ensuring actions are taken to mitigate or eliminate risks
  • Leading incident investigations for safety incidents and participating in management review of all serious incidents
  • Supporting and helping guide plant safety and ergonomics committees and culture change grass roots teams
  • Tracking, reporting, and analyzing Health & Safety performance and implementing corrective action as necessary
  • Leading the development, review, and revision of Health & Safety training programs; Training associates as appropriate on requirements and procedures for Health & Safety compliance

Qualifications:
WHAT DO I NEED TO DEMONSTRATE?
As well as a hunger to learn and succeed in Health & Safety, to be considered for this position you must be able to meet the following requirements:


Required:

  • Significant experience in the health & safety field
  • Knowledgeable of health & safety regulations, including extensive knowledge of OSHA standards
  • Possesses strong leadership, training, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, research and analytical skills
  • Sufficient computer literacy to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and learn to use plant specific software systems
  • Ability to prioritize effectively
  • Strong case management experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, occupational health sciences or related field
  • Experience managing a manufacturing plant level Health & Safety Program
  • Experience in the food & beverage industry
  • Experience working in a union facility

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?
This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays.

The ability to work a full shift, come to work on time, work overtime as needed and the ability to work according to the necessary schedule to meet job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation is an essential function of this position.
