Eaton has an opening for a Plant Manager in Roxboro, NC.  Reporting directly to the Director, Operations, North America, this leader has responsibility for plant management including production, operational excellence, supply chain, programs management, HR, finance and EHS.


The Plant Manager is responsible for leading overall plant operations to achieve customer, shareholder, employee and community objectives. This includes leading the development of plans and objectives for the successful achievement of plant High 5 metrics including, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity, in pursuit of Eaton’s World Class and Model Plant status. The role includes responsibility for EHS, Quality, Materials Management, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Finance and HR.

  • Leads and develops a Zero Incident Safety Culture through active, visible leadership.
  • Leads and develops a continuous improvement culture through deployment of the Continuous Improvement  Framework, including A3 / root cause problem solving.
  • Leads development of EBS Pull projects to support achievement of overall plant objectives.
  • Approves and manages the facility’s profit plan objectives. Ensures oversight of expenses, ensuring materials, labor and equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.
  • Oversees the implementation and sustainment of the Management of Environment, Safety, Security, and Health (MESH) program, Eaton Quality System, Eaton Lean and Six Sigma (ELSS), delivery, cost productivity, inventory performance and Eaton Business System (EBS) initiatives.
  • Supports and champions the development of plant human resources in alignment with Eaton Values & Philosophy and the Eaton Leadership Model.
  • Builds organizational capabilities to support a high performance and high engagement culture through mentoring and  developing new talent. Supports APEX (performance management) and OCA (organizational capability) activities for plant  human resources.
  • Develops and implements plans to enhance the quality of work life and culture within the plant by ensuring open and transparent communication, ensuring employee teams are cultivated and trained and that clean, safe world-class working  conditions are sustained.
  • Provides strategy to the local management team on short term and long term direction based on the overall vision of the facility.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree business administration or similar from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 10 years working experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Position Criteria:

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma tools
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team for maximum results
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and successfully lead and implement change activities
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing, engineering, materials and quality methods and practices Thorough understanding of financial practices and financial statements, including capital equipment analysis, cost accounting, budgeting, project cost analysis, maintenance analysis
  • Working knowledge of information systems, human resources and driving key projects and plant initiatives
  • Proficiency in business software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office)
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with all levels of employees
  • Demonstrated ability to develop talent and motivate others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Lean / Six Sigma Certification
  • Leadership experience in a high accountability / metrics driven environment
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing operations and quality methods
  • Previous plant management experience
