This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, IN for a Platform Product Engineering Manager. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Manages single discipline staff engaged in various engineering projects and assignments. Applies advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the design, development, analysis and release of products and subsystems through the product life cycle. Manages the creation of design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service. Verifies design using analysis and or functional testing, interprets results, drives decisions and assesses risk. Works with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional disciplines to resolve product issues. Evaluates customer needs and aligns requirements with identified customer expectations. May fill the role of a subsystem team leader, concurrent engineering team leader or a local technical functional excellence leader.
  • Leads a medium size technical group and works under broad direction.
  • Establishes employee performance standards; works collaboratively to set goals and to address areas of deficiency.
  • Influences business-area leadership decisions.
  • Manages financial controls and risk, ensuring operations are executed within established budget.
  • Identifies issues, problems, and opportunities to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Formulates employee and department development plans for transferring technical knowledge.
  • Coaches and motivates employees; provides guidance and direction on resolving problems and issues.
  • Delegates and assigns work, considering employee skills and development needs.
  • Advises leaders regarding the identification and resolution of complex problems.
  • Works with employees to establish their individual development and career plans.
  • Assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.

Skills and Experience Required:
  • Substantial relevant work experience required, including leadership of a small technical group.
  • Heavy duty variable geometry platform technical leadership for the US technical center.
  • Provide engineering leadership for L6 infant care (EPA2017)
  • Lead product engineering PQC support for existing platforms (K6 & O6)
  • Local platform engineering leadership for EBU.
  • Support engineering development of next generation VG for 2021.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
PhD, Masters of Science, Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in engineering required.

Compensation and Benefits
Base hourly rate commensurate with experience .
