The Pricing & Promotions Design Manager is responsible for creating fact basis and insights to facilitate pricing strategy and design. They will need to work cross functional to obtain consumer, financial and behavioral data then create insights from this data using a combination of financial and statistical analysis as well as marketing and business acumen. The P&P Design Manager should be driven by curiosity to understand all the nuances and complexity of what drives customer’s behaviors and needs as well as U.S. Cellular’ s profitability.
The position will require use of regressions, manipulation of large data sets, complex customer profitability analysis, as well as, application of strong business acumen, work with cross functional analytical partners and an understanding of financial/accounting concepts. Work will be primarily ad hoc and unstructured, but will also include some reoccurring reporting responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop insights, evaluate, monitory effectiveness, and develop recommendations to optimize performance of pricing
  • Forms hypotheses and synthesizes fact-based conclusions into recommendations including preparing and delivering comprehensive business cases to executive management.
  • Leverages competitive intelligence and consumer preference insights to develop concepts and offers for competitive advantage.
  • Streamlines processes where possible such as creating standard reporting tools and processes.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and supports widespread communication on pricing & promotional performance relative to goals and key metrics.
  • Facilitates partnership with Finance and supply chain on take rate estimates and profitability impact analysis at the enterprise level. This includes maximizing ROI of promotional spend including managing equipment subsidies.
  • Ensures pricing & promotional offers, tactics, and messaging are consistent and integrated with overall marketing and channel strategies; develop offer analysis and sensitivity models to derive the implications on acquisition strategy, marketing activities and operational processes.

  • Demonstrates strong leadership and significant influence management skills to gain credibility with and drive decision-making from senior leadership and stakeholders across the enterprise.

  • Partners with marketing, sales, and operational teams to define the roadmap and requirements for pricing and promotional elements and functionality to be supported by company systems and processes.

  • Content SME in the creation and enhancement of marketing materials and collateral to support promotional execution to educate and inform customers.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) in coordinating promotional input to the Brand team.




Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. MBA or graduate level degree in a related field is optional.
  • Specific promotions or pricing experience, financial/statistical modeling and forecasting, business case development; wireless industry experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong creative, analytical, and project planning skills are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Solid negotiation and meeting facilitation skills; significant experience working with and leading diverse teams of individuals at varying levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership where team members are not direct reports.
  • Ability to be an influencer who can set and/or implement strategy and a course of action.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
