Principal Accounting Associate, Regulatory Reporting

Capital One has an opportunity in its Basel Regulatory Capital Reporting team. You will assist in the preparation, reporting and analysis of the monthly and quarterly regulatory capital calculation for our multiple regulated entities. You will utilize your strong analytical and communication skills and be challenged to prioritize diverse tasks. You will have a direct impact in the success of our team and regulatory entities.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of in-depth knowledge of U.S. Basel III regulatory capital reporting requirements and related operational processes including the capital calculation tool.
  • Prepare detailed quantitative analysis supporting the completeness and accuracy of the regulatory capital calculation including period over period variance analysis across a variety of product types such as loans, securities and derivatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentation material for senior management and committee reporting.
  • Liaison with cross-functional areas including accounting, lines of business, risk management, treasury and IT to analyze capital reporting results, obtain inputs and resolve issues.
  • Execute internal controls including developing appropriate documentation and analysis supporting the capital calculation.
  • Contribute to process improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree or military experience

- At least 3 years of experience in Accounting,  or at least 3 years of experience in Audit or at least 3 years of experience in Finance 

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

- CPA certification

- 3+ years of regulatory reporting experience

- 5+ years of experience in Supervising a team of individuals in an accounting department or similar audit experience

- 5+ years of experience in Accounting
