Amgen is seeking a Commercial AWS Lead-Platform Engineer (Principal IS Business System Analyst) in its main headquarters at Thousand Oaks, CA to join the Global Commercial Operations (GBS) team reporting to Senior Manager Information Systems and is responsible for leading the US Commercial Reporting and Analytics initiatives to design and implement a cloud architecture. Assess the commercial US environment and prepare the roadmap on the migration to AWS offerings. Help shape and execute on a strategy to build the broad use of Amazon Web Services (including EC2, S3 and many more).
GCOIS is responsible for partnering with Amgen's US Commercial organization to deliver technology services and solutions around data and reporting. This team provides oversight and technical leadership of to move to a cloud based AWS technologies for the Commercial US Analytics teams.
Provide expertise in architecting, create the strategy and direction for enterprise BI and Analytics initiatives, including cloud-based technologies, Big Data, Search, etc.
Drive discussions with senior management regarding trade-offs, best practices and risk management.
Manage the transition from on premise solutions to the cloud and oversee financial and resource portfolio as well as the technology work streams
Act as a primary point of contact for this new capability, this position will interact with end users from all aspects of Amgen's US commercial business to ensure that business use cases are well understood and ensure GCOIS is align with business needs for GCO.
Operational oversight of the Business Intelligence Run & Optimization service portfolio
Doctorate degree AND 2 years of Information Systems and/or Cloud experience
OR Master's degree AND 6 years of Information Systems and/or Cloud experience
OR Bachelor's degree AND 8 years of Information Systems and/or Cloud experience
OR Associate's degree AND 10 years of Information Systems and/or Cloud experience
OR High school diploma/GED AND 12 years of Information Systems and/or Cloud experience
Excellent Communication skills to clearly articulate strategies across and up through organization, including escalation and mitigation of issues, risks and business impacts
Understanding of latest AWS technologies (ex. S3, EC2, Integration tools, Hadoop, Redshift, building large-scale and complex systems)
Strong desire to build, sense of ownership, urgency and drive
Experience using at least one scripting language like Python and repository tools such as GitHub
Ability to think strategically about technology, recommend solutions that align with business strategy and achieve the greatest business impact
Working knowledge of LEAN/AGILE software development methodologies
Strong organizational, planning and financial management skills and demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across a matrixed organization
