As a Principal Database Engineer with our team, you will be a key contributor in designing and implementing major pieces of the Responsys core database infrastructure. You will be the internal "Oracle database expert" within the engineering team and serve as the point of contact for all things oracle database. Your work will influence our deployment strategy and our operational strategy for our databases. You will design major core database services such as replication, data high availability, disaster recovery, Implement database techniques and features to support service scalability, performance and stability for our SaaS platform. You will work closely with Quality Engineering and Technical Operations to test and deploy infrastructural enhancements. Resolve complex technical issues and drive innovation that improves system availability, resiliency, and performance. You will have the opportunity to interact with the internal Oracle teams to design solutions and address challenging issues. You will have the opportunity to work in the latest and greatest Oracle database technologies including EXADATA.
To be successful in this role you will need a background in the following:
-BS or higher degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
-Must have experience tuning Oracle database and tuning SQLs
-Must be very good in Oracle database Architecture and Oracle database Internals
-Must have experience in working with Very Large Databases.
-Must have exposure to Oracle RAC
-Exposure to Oracle tools Data Guard, Golden Gate is plus-Experience in software development with a strong understanding of schema design and SQL development
- Development experience with PL/SQL, SQL, Oracle, or other database technologies
- Experience with schema design and SQL development Innovator, with good ideas, strong problem solving and communication skills, and a results oriented attitude
- Ability to learn quickly and deliver high quality code in a fast-paced, dynamic agile team environment
-Experience building a high-performance large-scale database platform Prior experience in Java/J2EE.
-Prior experience in Ant, Maven build and deploy tools Prior experience with MySQL database
-Experience with Shell/Perl/Python scripting in Unix or Linux environment.
-Experience with agile software development Experience in Big data technologies is plus
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
