Principal Engineer - Commercial Video Engineering

Charter Communications is looking for an exceptionally well qualified Principal Video Engineer - Hospitality to lead the Commercial Video Engineering team for both CPE and Back-Office Development. These technologies will integrate and dovetail into the current Headend architectures, strategies and future roadmaps; and yet provide the necessary customer experience for the Commercial Market. This position is critical in maintaining the legacy video infrastructure, product life-cycle and the support of Video Operations, as well as creating new business solutions; which include consolidation, standardization, security; and integration with other technologies.

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

Candidate must take products through their lifecycle and transition them across internal organizations, including supporting Video Engineering and Operations by creating detailed engineering documentation (Engineering Design Documents, Test plans and Installation procedures and guides, (MOPs)Method of Operations, Golden Configuration, Road Maps, etc.) and lead design and development across multiple vendors.

Expert on Cable industry technologies, specifically the Commercial Video Segment (hospitality), Video Infrastructure Technology of Arris & Cisco Headend Architectures, Conditional Access Systems, CableCard Technologies, Billing Systems and other Authorization systems, both Analog and Digital Video Processing and EAS Systems

Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to lead and design the commercial video architecture and integrate with legacy video infrastructure, configure head end equipment and create solutions with existing Video Infrastructure and end-to-end integration

The candidate will be responsible for creating roadmaps to dovetail with the Residential Product Development and Commercial Video strategy with the existing video infrastructure. Also, work with Product and Video Operations on creating operational standards to support solutions across Charter Communication’s footprint.

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year College or University; or equivalent training, education and or experience

Related Work Experience
Subject Matter Expert on both ARRIS DAC and Cisco EC Architectures

Subject Matter Expert on ADB VuTime (BMC) Server and SBB Client Architectures

Expertise in One App (Legacy TWC) web services API’s for Linear and VOD Import

Expertise in VOD, SDV, and SCTE-18 Protocols

Expertise in Conditional Access Systems, CableCards, Session Based Encryption, Privacy Mode Encryption

Expert on Client & Server Architectures to develop Enterprise Provisioning (Billing Systems) and Monitoring Architecture across Organizational Boundaries

Development of component-testing and system level testing plans. Execute and maintain test cases and manage vendor development and releases

Experience with Operating Systems such as Red Hat Linux administration, installation and configuration experience/knowledge is preferred

Subject Matter Expert on VMware VSphere, Cloud Management, automation, Data center virtualization, Network Virtualization certification preferred

Knowledge of Control plane, and other cloud technologies

Evaluate and test new technologies. Create documentation and diagrams for Video System infrastructure

Some software development process experience and work cross-functional teams

Must be well versed in Excel and Visio

Above average networking skills
