The Advanced Engineering department resides in the Charter Technical Engineering Center (CTEC) facilities in Englewood, CO and oversees the design and architecture of Charter’s multi-billion dollar network infrastructure. We investigate, select, develop, and integrate technologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short, medium and long term initiatives. This includes the delivery of the technology plan and future architecture for Voice, Video, Data, Optical, Commercial, Cloud, CPE, Network and Access.
Charter Communications is looking for an exceptionally well qualified Principal Engineer I to help manage Charter’s population of deployed legacy STBs. Manage STB OEMs and their deliveries, in support of maintenance activities and the addition of new features to legacy STBs The Principal Engineer I role within the Advanced Engineering team will work closely with Advanced Engineers, Lab Engineers, Operations, Development, System Verification & Test teams as well as outside vendors.
•Expert on the Cable industry and legacy STB models from multiple cable vendors.
•Video Infrastructure Technology related to the Arris Conditional Access Controller and head-end equipment including DAC, Billing, VOD, OCAP and Switched Digital Video (SDV).
•Extensive STB software engineering skills.
•Software development process experience and work cross-functional team interaction.
•Self-motivated and ability to work independently using his/her own initiative and judgment
•Willingness to adapt quickly to changing situations
•Excellent written and oral communications skills
•Effective problem solving and troubleshooting skills
•Ability to manage priorities and time in a fast pace work environment
Education and Experience:
•Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
•Travel 30 %
