This team has developed a mature business with desktop and app remoting. Our team is focused on supporting our existing business and optimizing our solutions for deployments in Azure. We develop client applications on all major platforms to support our existing business, personal desktop connections, and our new SaaS offering (Azure RemoteApp).

We are looking for a Principal Lead Engineer who can help shape the design, development and quality of the next generation Remote Desktop experiences and Azure services to support application and desktop remoting. The ideal candidate brings a wealth of experience in data analytics. In this role, you will drive the team responsible for end-to-end design, development, data processing, and data analysis from a range of desktop and application remoting scenarios across Windows Client and Server devices and Azure Services. The types of challenges you are going to face includes data architecture, data modeling, data design, instrumentation strategies, data analysis at large scale, machine learning, and visualization, all aimed at generating insights, improving quality, and driving impact to the scenarios and experiences enabled by the team. The ideal candidate also needs to demonstrate strong collaboration skills, given the spectrum of partners, both internal and external to Microsoft, that team engages on a regular basis. A great fit in this environment requires you to be creative, flexible, and passionate about delighting customers, in addition to being a proven collaborator that develops and manages effective working relationships across multiple teams and disciplines.


-BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related technical discipline

-10+ years of architectural design, programming experience, and skills in relevant programing languages such as Java, C++, C, and/or C#.

-5+ years of people management experience and a proven track record of leading healthy, productive, and innovative teams and/or individuals.

-Experience with databases, SQL, data warehousing, data mining, machine learning, distributed storage, and computation platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, or Cosmos (internal Microsoft distributed computing platform), are highly desirable.

-Experience in SaaS, application remoting and desktop virtualization, is a plus

-Ability to bring broad product, customer, and market context into data analyses.

-Strong passion for delivering compelling, high quality consumer experiences

-Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills

-High capacity to learn and adapt to new technologies and engineering processes quickly

-Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
