The Office 365 Information Protection team is looking for an experienced, energetic, and hands on Group Program Manager for our Organization Data Compliance team. The Information Protection team delivers the Security and Compliance suite for O365 customers. These award winning technologies provide world class, enterprise quality spam protection, virus protection, content filtering, email encryption, data loss prevention, archiving, eDiscovery, auditing, data classification etc. - to 10s of millions of Office365 customers both on premises and in the cloud. This suite goes across the O365 workloads and is a revenue and usage growth engine for the service. Enterprises choose O365 because of our Security and Compliance suite, and Office 365 Information Protection is a high scale mission critical service - for banks, schools, large organizations, and increasingly for small organization. O365 E5 which is critical to the growth of the business is hinged on O365 Information Protection.
The role involves leading a team that works on high scale services as well as admin and user experiences for commercial customers and consumers. Data is life blood of organizations, and Office/Office365 is the center of data creation, storage and sharing. Organizations are looking to manage their data for compliance requirements, to reduce security exposure, for discovery during investigations, and stay ahead of data loss. Against a tide of bring-your-own-devices, mobile and distributed work forces, and move to cloud services. And exponential growth in the amount of data being generated by users. Office 365 looks to solve these use cases for organizations with the assistance of cloud based technologies such as big data analysis and machine learning. Data analysis, use cases and experiences are the life blood of the team. The role involves broad exposure across Microsoft given the focus on security and compliance, as well as deep engagements with industry players and partners. The role will also require working closely with customers. The GPM is responsible for business and feature strategy.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a demonstrated track record of deep technical contributions and a proven history of leading successful teams. He or she will be required to develop a culture of hands on engineering, and deliver customer focused innovation at all layers or our service stack. Success in this position requires a broad set of experiences and skills, including excellence in core engineering, strong team, and individual leadership and skills. Deep vision and communication skills, the ability to engage with customers and partners, and the ability to work in a fast paced environment are characteristics we are looking for in the ideal candidate. Fostering a strong working relationship with engineering at the leadership and working team level is a must. The team is comprised of Program Managers distributed across levels.
• 7-10 years experience in Program or SDE Management
• Hands on experience designing user experiences is a must
• Online Services experience is a definite plus
• A passion for finding solutions to hard problems at massive scale and operationalizing them
• Demonstrated experience leading and hiring Principal level Program Managers
• Strong track record of shipping products and services
• Prior messaging, authentication, provisioning, and directory experience highly desirable
• Experience working at a systems level and delivering platforms a plus
• Experience building large scale services highly desirable
• A BA/BS or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline required
