The newly created Global Technology’s Vendor Management Organization (VMO) has been established to provide MetLife with a single point of contact for timely, high-quality and strategic vendor management services. This role is responsible for addressing the needs of MetLife IT in a manner that ensures the lowest risk and best possible quality for the cost incurred. The role of the Lead Supplier Relationship Manager is responsible for overseeing several strategic supplier relationships in hardware, network and telecom at MetLife. This role will report directly to the AVP of GT VMO.  The Lead Supplier Relationship Manager will design and develop the organization's hardware and telecom vendor management program within the newly created GT VMO. This role will serve as the VMO contact for specific IT suppliers which have been identified as strategic at MetLife.


In partnership with MetLife key stakeholders, this role will:

  • Provide input and guidance relative to the selection of the supplier’s product and work closely with the IT sublines of business (Enterprise Application Development, Regional Application Development, and Enterprise Infrastructure & Architecture) and others to insure performance management objectives are continually being met.
  • Serve as the VMO contact for hardware, network and telecom providers such as Cisco, Dell/EMC, AT&T, Palo Alto Networks, Nice Systems and HPE.  Primary management activities will include managing the overall relationship(s) and sponsoring and delivering quarterly high-quality, executive business review meetings.
  • Lead and drive supplier contract compliance by defining deliverables and obligations contained in key managed services agreements and lead the tracking of successful completion by both the supplier and MetLife throughout the life of the agreement.
  • Insure designated suppliers are adhering to relevant risk-related requirements and address appropriate steps required to mitigate any compliance concerns.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, information Systems or related field
  • 8+ years of IT experience in vendor management and in particular in the management and governance of IT managed services/outsourcing agreements.  Experience in both application development/management and infrastructure services is required.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience, ideally as line manager with ability to direct & influence work of others (virtual teams, 3rd party resources, direct reports)
  • Prior experience managing individual contributors and/or third parties.
  • Broad understanding of financial services business and infrastructure environments; understanding of MetLife business and infrastructure environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of external provider support operations & SLA development & monitoring
  • Ability to act as primary interface between external services provider/other IT suppliers & client as well as face off to senior executives within MetLife
  • PMP Certification a plus
