Principal Software Engineer
Oracle is building from scratch Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Public Cloud, and is looking for exceptional engineers to join Oracle Public Cloud (OPC) in Santa Clara.
The OPC network services team is building out a massive-scale virtualized network, and you'll be part of a team that builds out next generation infrastructure, customer features and high-performance overlay. This team will be building one of the single most critical features for the public cloud, and you can be certain that every customer packet will be touching your code.
We have engineering work at every layer of the stack, from REST APIs to the OS kernel, and are looking for teammates who are interested in touching every layer. We are generalists who work in the big picture, but obsess over the dirtiest details, who lead and are lead by each other every day.
- 5 years delivering and operating in production large scale, highly available, cloud based distributed systems
- S trong knowledge of C, C or Java, Python, and Ruby
- Strong Objected Oriented Design skills
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems and distributed systems fundamentals
- E xperience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
