The Principal Network Architect/Technologist will design Network solutions to enable the 300,000+ GE employees across the globe. Serves as a highest-level technical expert, being responsible for acting as a thought leader, recommending strategy and developing innovative networking solutions for one of the largest commercial networks in the world.
+ Partner with business associates as a Network expert to lead and contribute to large-scale multi-phase programs to enable GE enterprise network capabilities
+ Architects, designs and implements network concepts and technologies. Defines and executes proof of concept, pilot activities in support of rationalizing and vetting technologies that provide value to GE.
+ Build upon the first phase of global network implementation to expand capability to meet critical requirements for Cloud, Edge, Core, third-party connectivity, Outbound Access, Acquisition and Divestitures activities, Mutli-Tenant Data Center Cores/LAN, etc.
+ Provides thought leadership in the area of responsibility.
+ Engage and collaborate across network deployment and operations teams to successfully implement solutions and transition to operations
+ Effectively communicate to all levels of the organization including SMEs, Peer Principal Technologist, Chief Architect, CTO, CIOs, etc.
+ Mentor others to develop their technical expertise
+ Develop Network Reference Architectures.
+ Oversees the adherence to the set of company-wide network infrastructure standards and practices.
+ Researches emerging technologies and equipment; develops technical specifications for new products and services.
+ Provides thought leadership in the global network backbone and edge architecture space; leads efforts to define, advocate, select, and deliver next generation network architectures.
+ Master's or Bachelor's Degree with equivalent experience in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
+ Minimum 12 years of experience supporting large enterprise network infrastructure at a Fortune 500 company
+ Minimum 8 years of experience in a primary design or architecture role in network infrastructure
+ Must be willing to work out of a Technology Solutions location.
+ Strong presentation skills.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting highly conceptual designs to executives, mid-level management, fellow architects, and engineers.
+ In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN support and engineering design for voice, data and video networks.
+ Strong knowledge of security concepts and ability to apply those concepts into practice in a network environment.
+ Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve routing issues, congestion problems, and hardware and software failures.
+ Ability to lead change.
+ Knowledge of new and evolving technologies and practices.
+ In-depth knowledge of server, networking, storage, data center infrastructures and general application architecture (multi-tier architectures).
+ Excellent understanding of modern TCP/IP data networks using standards and technologies including but not limited to: MPLS, BGP4, MPBGP, EIGRP, VRF, etc.
+ Excellent knowledge, skills and experience with routing hardware, software, protocols etc.
+ Understanding of transport technologies e.g. DWDM, SONET Rings, Metro Ethernet, etc
+ Strong familiarity with virtualization, SDN, automation and similar constructs.
+ Cisco Certifications such as CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, CCDE or equivalent experience.
+ Demonstrated expertise and initiative by speaking at a conference such as Cisco Live, etc.
+ Leverages communication and collaboration to solve problems with global peers across various functions\#DTR
