The Comparative Biology and Safety Sciences (CBSS) department at Amgen is seeking a comparative/translational pathologist to join our growing R&D organization in South San Francisco, CA. Amgen pathologists are integral members of nonclinical safety sciences and cross-functional scientific teams. Pathologists contribute to a wide-range of activities across the portfolio, modalities and therapeutic indications. In this capacity, the successful candidate will contribute to both investigative and regulatory studies, interpret and integrate complex data sets, problem solve safety issues, and provide context of human risk. Other opportunities exist including discovery and investigative pathology support, CBSS representation on interdisciplinary product teams, peer reviews, and due diligence reviews.
Basic Qualifications:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) board certification in anatomic pathology
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD and/or post-doctoral research in a relevant discipline (e.g. life sciences, translational biology, molecular biology)
2 years + of academic or industry experience demonstrating a record of achievement
Ability to critically evaluate and interpret results of experiments and integrate datasets and literature
Ability to work independently, build productive cross-functional collaborations, manage conflict, and multi-task
Demonstrated team work skills, resilience, and leadership skills
Interest and ability to serve as a pathology subject matter expert
Working knowledge of database tools and tools needed to effectively query literature and public databases
