Develops and improves manufacturing plastic processing technology to support base business and new product introductions.  Directs manufacturing engineering projects by planning and controlling activities involved in equipment development, test, validation, and operation.  Oversees the implementation of improvements and/or modifications to techniques and/or practices.  Ensures the implementation of engineering projects meet goals and timelines. 
  • Controls and facilitates engineering projects to meet tactical/strategic plans of the department.
  • Development of new plastic processing technology for use in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Improving current plastic processing technology to improve process capability, uptime, cycle time, and yield.
  • Prepares equipment, process, safety and materials specifications and conducts technical analysis of vendor proposals.
  • Equipment acceptance test and validation (IQ, OQ and PQ).
  • Qualifies new equipment and performs vendor and site acceptance testing to meet project objectives.
  • Provides training to Operations engineers and technicians to operate, troubleshoot and maintain new equipment.
  • Serves as an engineering expert for Make Operations and ensures all activities and projects are aligned to site goals and adhere to good engineering practices.
  • Provides support, development and training of subordinates (Direct or Indirect) to meet "state of the art" approaches to business requirements.
  • Controls project capital budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree is required
  • Masters Degree highly preferred
  • 8+ years experience in multi-disciplined engineering environment with knowledge of project management, construction, installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment is required.
  • 5+ years experience in a regulated industry environment is required.
  • Experience with multiple types of plastic processing (ie Injection Molding and/or thermoforming is required and extrusion, blow molding, roto molding, etc..) is preferred.
  • Experience managing vendors from selection and design through installations is preferred
  • Project Management experience is required.
  • Experience working with high speed, high volume manufacturing equipment is preferred.
  • Six Sigma or Statistical Engineering experience or training is preferred.
  • This position is located in Jacksonville, Florida and may require up to 25% travel, domestic and/or international.
