AstraZeneca's vision in Oncology
is to help patients by redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm, with the aim of bringing six new cancer medicines to patients between 2013 and 2020. A broad pipeline of next-generation medicines is focused principally on four disease areas - breast, ovarian, lung and haematological cancers. As well as other tumour types, these are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalised healthcare and biomarker technologies.Main Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a Principal Scientist/Associate Director in Oncology Translational Science to join a world class center for discovery and development of innovative cancer medicines. Based in Waltham, MA you will be accountable for delivery of robust, scientifically-driven biomarkers in drug discovery and development programs. You will have the opportunity to impact an industry-leading portfolio of targeted therapy programs from inception through to life cycle management for marketed drugs.
In this role you will develop biomarker strategies and ensuring delivery within oncology project teams. You will deliver biomarkers for clinical studies based on the best available science and technologies. You will generate disease linkage data to guide indication selection and targeted patient populations. You will measure target engagement reliably and quantifiably to inform clinical decisions for selecting therapeutically relevant doses and schedules. You will understand key cancer pathway interactions and feedback mechanisms in clinical samples to guide rational drug combinations. You will define novel mechanisms of resistance targeted therapies by studying tumors at relapse.Essential Requirements

- PhD with 5-10 years experience or equivalent experience within industry
