Word users don’t write documents to let them languish in desk drawers. Our users create documents to share their knowledge and goals, to work with others to improve their efforts, and to turn their ideas into reality. They also have high expectations of reliability and quality that we must maintain and improve. It’s our team’s mission to make the process of working with documents intuitive and fluid, so users can seamlessly collaborate on whatever device they have. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join a large team within the Word engineering organization. You will initiate and drive projects which will range from low-level architecture of our core data model to features that deliver new workflows to our customers, whether they’re on the web, a mobile device, a PC or Mac.
With your team, you will be expected to deliver production functionality from design through development, validation, deployment and adoption, and long-term sustainability. You’ll also develop your team’s capabilities through work item assignments and growth-focused feedback. We emphasize deeply understanding the customer experience and driving improvements using telemetry data. You must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively with partner teams.
Qualifications for this position include:
• Minimum of 7 years of software design and development with shipping experience.
• BS in computer science, or equivalent in related technical experience.
• Strong problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong track record of mentoring and providing high-quality feedback.
• Ability to dive deep into the technical details, and to align those details with great customer experiences.
• Solid development experience in C or C++.
