Experimentation and Big Data Analysis have become key components in how most software is built. Susan Athey of the Stanford business school says of Controlled Experiments, “ A/B test is probably the most impactful business process innovation that has occurred in a very long time” Building tools to analyze and interpret all the experimentation data is another grand challenge problem of its own. Inside the newly formed AI and Research division, the Analysis and Experimentation Team is looking for talented engineers and computer scientists who strive to build highly scalable, performant and robust solutions to help teams understand their users and their data. Do you have a passion for finding innovative solutions to difficult problems? Do you thrive on building tools that help find insights in data that would otherwise be hidden and useless? We want to hear from you! As a member of the team, you will work with a talented group of data scientists, data engineers and software engineers to create an unrivaled platform to dive deep into the massive data sets produced by large experiments. You will be working closely with teams from Office, Xbox, Bing and the rest of Microsoft. You should love the idea of working closely lots of smart and creative people and tackling hard, massive scale problems.

What you’ll do:

• Design and build new services and tools
• Work closely with our analysts
• Determine priorities by estimating the potential impact of
projects
• Produce high quality code and performant systems

Improve those around you As a manager, you will:

• Mentor engineers and help grow their careers
• Help with the team’s strategic direction
• Hire the best, raising our already high bar
• Continuously improve the team, our architectures and
practices

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work
experience
• At least 10 years of professional software development
experience
• At least 3 years managing developers, both project direction
and career growth
• Strong coding, design and architectural skills
• Experience with a programming language such as C++, Java,
C#, Objective C, Ruby or Python
• Experience with SQL, don’t have to be an expert but familiar
with basic commands
• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms and
software engineering concepts
• A strong sense of curiosity and a willingness to learn, share
and improve
• Experience mentoring junior engineers

Bonus Skills:

• Big Data experience
• Large distributed systems experience A&E
