Dell IT created the Testing Architect position to fill a senior strategic role on our Quality Engineering team. In conjunction with other project leaders, the qualified individual will provide technical leadership and tactical direction to the test efforts of large initiatives. The Testing Architect will maintain a big picture view of the initiative, its dependencies, organizational goals, etc. and will help guide and develop large test organizations appropriately. The Testing Architect will continuously collaborate with all parties in a project to ensure excellence in execution, development, and delivery. The Testing Architect is responsible for ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction with Quality Engineering.
The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge of software testing practices, concepts, and technology. The candidate will be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of IT business processes, as well as knowledge about the roles and responsibilities required to successfully deploy a technology. The candidate is passionate about understanding how technology supports and automates business processes, likes to solve problems, and collaborate with others. He or she can work through the end-to-end process of technology deployments assuring that the product or technology is sustainable from the earliest stages of development through production to its one-day retirement.
The qualified individual has a sincere appreciation for ensuring quality is integrated into the Technology Deployment Process (TDP). Ideally, the individual has experience finding ways to improve quality through means other than testing.
**Principal Duties and Responsibilities:**
‒ Oversees testing of the interoperability of all application modules
‒ Provides guidance and support to Leads and Testers in the development of tests
‒ Reviews functional specifications to identify issues
‒ Represents the Quality Engineering organization to project stakeholders; manages stakeholders’ expectations, including customers and global teams
‒ Facilitates test preparation and test execution tasks, including planning and estimation; ensures compliance with test entry criteria; coordinates use and creation of test data
‒ Provides requirements and specifications for test cases; accountable for delivery; anticipates and addresses issues proactively
‒ Understands and adheres to all cost/delivery/quality targets
‒ Develops new test methodologies or processes, re-evaluates existing processes
‒ Understands the business requirements, participates in product design reviews and ensures that testability requirements are incorporated into design
‒ Manages and reports on the test progress, assesses events and changes in plan and suggests plan of action, tracks schedule and risks/dependencies throughout the project; ensures test team activities are completed on time and meet expectations
‒ Writes Test Completion Report before Beta-phase or Go-Live
‒ Authors and executes test cases for manual and/or automated tests
‒ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related field
‒ 7+ years total experience, including 5+ years software quality and testing experience
‒ Proficiency in IT Technologies (e.g. Data Warehouse, Mobile technology, Master Data Management, Big Data, etc.) and how they support a business’ success
‒ Excellent understanding of software engineering and test methodologies in the context of an IT solution
‒ Knowledge of a wide application of engineering principles, theories, and concepts, and working knowledge of other related fields
‒ Experience driving large scale and complex integration testing efforts
‒ Software analysis and design knowledge/experience
‒ Industry Certification(s)
‒ Familiarity with Unified Functional Testing (UFT)/QuickTest Professional (QTP), Selenium, Worksoft, Load Runner or equivalent
‒ Experience in testing Web-based applications and Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), API-based tests
‒ Experience in performance, scalability and reliability testing in the context of an enterprise solution
‒ Conceptual understanding of Automation and Automation frameworks
‒ DevOps framework experience including Jenkins and other CI/CD concepts
