JOB SUMMARY
This role will use expertise in technical disciplines (e.g. GUI design, application design, web service design, databases, virtualization, networking, etc.) and expertise in business functions (ordering, installation, support, monitoring, etc.) to guide rapid design of solutions for new systems and enhancements to existing systems. The Principal Technologist function will provide detailed support to project teams and development personnel as functional needs are mapped to existing standardized platforms and development patterns that allow faster delivery with consistent support and operational stability.

PRINCIPAL TECHNOLOGIST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Creates operations procedures documents for new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
Reviews documents, including project charters, functional requirements, non-functional requirements and high-level designs to ensure detailed design work and implementation can use the information provided as they relate to JIRA, Chalk(Confluence) and Crowd
Conducts detailed analysis of log files and performance statistics of new or existing systems to identify previously unknown performance, functional or security issues and provides recommendations for remediation of issues.
Conducts design reviews, code reviews and deployment procedure reviews with development teams and operations personnel as they relate to JIRA, Chalk(Confluence) and Crowd.
Provides troubleshooting and prioritization assistance for defect and performance issues of JIRA, Chalk(Confluence) projects within development and in production.
Provides internal support to other personnel for issues on production JIRA, Chalk(Confluence) systems.
Provides informal training and mentoring to senior technical personnel on platforms, tools and practices for JIRA, Chalk(Confluence) and Crowd.


Responsibilities for the Atlassian tools platform support SME on the Collaboration Tools team:
· OS support - Unix SME more than an Atlassian SME
o licensing management - ELA/App rationalization/Instance tracking
o Incident management and communication
§ We work with IT SOC for bridge/global alerts etc.
§ Work with Atlassian product vendor to update Atlassian ticketing system with platform info etc.
o Change management and communication
§ CHG Stakeholder meetings
§ CHG Implementation windows
§ MOP review
§ CAB meetings
o Operational support
§ Develop scripts for troubleshooting
§ Work with Engineering and Architecture team on troubleshooting playbook
§ Knowledge with monitoring tools
o Security Audits/assessment
o Security patch implementation coordinate with the unix, F5, HW teams
· Work with Other teams - bonus skills:
o Work with UNIX team in coordinating Patches – it will be performed by the Unix team.
o Migration from Sharepoint/other Atlassian instances
§ This was suggested as something my team member could help with, but since I will be looking for a Unix resource more than an Atlassian resource, I had suggested that this fits better in your team, plus we discussed that this will be going through Unified intake and funding needs to be determined
o Work with the SQL team on DB tuning and troubleshooting
o Work with the monitoring team on managing App Dynamics alerts and response
o Work with the Infrastructure teams for VM, LB/Host/DNS/Network/Firewall etc. issues


COLLABORATION TEAM DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive the development, the administration and the IT governance framework for the multiple Collaborative tool instances within the enterprise

Work with program management and business partners on technical programs associated with the collaborative tools to ensure the collection of detailed customer requirements, constraints, and assumptions with stakeholders in order to establish project deliverables, using requirement-gathering techniques and the project charter
Manage both simple and moderately complex business needs using out of the box collaborative tool features and available third party tools or add-ons
Create simple requirement, design, training and test documents for the technical programs associated with the collaborative tools
Configure, maintain and upgrade the collaborative toolset within the enterprise
Troubleshoot and fix errors common to applications, servers, deployment, etc.
Provide platform support for the completed sites and workspaces implemented using the collaborative tools like SharePoint, Confluence, JIRA, Syncplicity

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, and suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
An expert understanding of infrastructure technologies and concepts is preferred
Ability to demonstrate lateral thinking required to solve complex technical problems
Ability to collaborate well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources; has experience working with others on a global basis; applies knowledge to coach and mentor others
Ability to build consensus across interdisciplinary environments (across technical teams, across client domains)
Advanced knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
Advanced knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
Expert knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances
Advanced knowledge of network designing software
Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
