**Job Description:** **Senior/Principal Validation SDE, System Statistics and API Validation** Performance Engineering, EMC Isilon Systems Division Isilon Systems, a division of EMC Corporation, is the leader in scale-out storage systems. Our Performance Engineering team, which is part of the Isilon Engineering organization, develops key high performance software features and provides automated validation and analysis of the Isilon NAS storage solutions. This team is seeking a highly motivated engineer to help in the validation of key system components. As a Senior or Principal software engineer, you will play a leadership role in defining the overall statistics validation vision and in turning that vision into reality. Your expertise will be applied to create a validation suite for Isilon’s Statview and StatsD system components. You will need to understand all aspects of the implementation and system statistics, and help to ensure the correctness and accuracy of the implementation. Customers and support staff will rely on these components to help solve complex system issues in the field. Ideal candidates excel at cross-team collaboration and are well versed in testing Python- and C++-based APIs, understand complex distributed systems and are comfortable in a continuous delivery model, and have a proven track record of delivering high-quality software to real-world customers. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + (Principal) Develop a holistic vision for building an automated validation implementation for the Isilon Statview and StatsD system components. Use your newly learned expertise to help other system performance validation efforts. + Help guarantee a high quality solution by bringing your “quality first” mind set to the table; work with engineers to jointly develop unit, functional, and integration tests. Improve performance test automation, performance tooling, test reliability, and test coverage. + Demonstrate excellent collaboration and communication skills as you obtain requirements, plan, build a detailed design, and deliver a high-quality implementation of your validation solutions. + (Principal) Drive validation improvements across the rest of the Isilon engineering organization. + Contribute visibly to the relentless pursuit of product quality, innovation, and customer-centric design across the engineering organization. + Possess a strong aptitude for exploring new technologies and understanding how to apply them to new products, and system tools. **CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS** + BS in Computer Science or related technical field, and 4 (Senior) to 10 (Principal) years’ industry experience. + Extensive experience with FreeBSD and/or Linux operating systems + Extensive experience developing or validating software with Python and C++ tool chains. + Strong system engineering and system troubleshooting skills + Experience planning projects, documenting test designs and delivering software validation tools + Familiarity with statistics, system metrics, distributed services, databases, file systems, or storage/infrastructure is a plus. **EMC Values:** When you choose our company, you join a diverse world of innovative thought leaders.
