Position Description
As part of the McKesson Specialty Health Compliance Department, the Vantage Privacy Manager will directly report to the McKesson Specialty Health Privacy Director and organize key initiatives and activities related to the development and implementation of privacy training, procedures, monitoring, controls, risk mitigation planning and other privacy program elements within Vantage Oncology, in compliance with relevant privacy laws and McKesson's information privacy practices.  This experienced privacy professional must be able to think strategically, execute tactically and build relationships with business partners in a collaborative environment.   Provide oversight, support and direction to practice based professionals as needed.
 
Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the development and communication of privacy procedures, guidelines and training in coordination with Global Compliance and Ethics, the Global Privacy Office, and legal counsel.
  2. Manages the process for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and taking action on incidents and complaints concerning McKesson Specialty Health's privacy policies and procedures in coordination and collaboration with other similar functions and, when necessary, legal counsel.
  3. Assist with the creation and delivery of initial and periodic privacy-related orientation and education to Vantage employees, workforce, and appropriate third parties.
  4. Assist with the performance of initial and periodic privacy risk assessments and conduct ongoing compliance monitoring activities, and supporting relevant departments (e.g. IT Management, Global Privacy Office, Human Resources, product and service development, etc.) and corporate initiatives in establishing/improving privacy processes resulting from risk assessment and monitoring activities.
  5. Work with key partners to ensure coordination of activities and alignment between security and privacy programs, particularly around data incidents involving personal information.
  6. Other activities as needed to ensure compliance with regulatory/legal requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Qualifications:
5+ years of related experience.  Desired backgrounds may include healthcare, Medicare, pharmaceuticals, biologics manufacturing, or clinical research.
 
Critical Skills
  • Specialized knowledge of federal and state privacy and security laws, including HIPAA/HITECH.
  • Experience providing guidance on the effective development and implementation of privacy controls.
  • Ability to draft policy documents and translate regulatory requirements into practical and actionable elements while supporting business strategy.
  • Experience in performing privacy risk assessments and ongoing privacy compliance monitoring activities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills at all levels within a large corporation.
  • Strong analytical skills
 
Additional Skills and Knowledge
  • Physician practices or hospital experience, preferred
  • Experience with secondary use of data and EHRs, and the deployment of health information exchanges.
  • Leading the creation and delivery of periodic training, preferred
  • Experience working in or with IT or IT Security departments, preferred
     
Education
 MS preferred or 4-year degree or equivalent experience. Juris Doctorate preferred.
