Shift: Monday - Friday 7:30am-5:00pm
Lengh: 11 Months

This position is responsible for Procurement business partnering with the Law Patent & Compliance (LPC) department in the US and will work globally. It is responsible for sourcing activities in the legal area including, without limitation, rate and fee negotiations with law firms and legal support suppliers, law firm/legal support supplier management, spend analysis, identifying and implementing industry trends globally to optimize external legal spend, and engaging and partnering with stakeholders in the LPC department.


Major Tasks/Responsibilities:

Develops, plans and implements global/regional sourcing strategies and business partnering initiatives supporting existing and in-development services. He/she partners with global LPC community stakeholders, cross-disciplinary teams, and law firms and external legal support suppliers globally to develop innovative approaches to optimizing cost-effective delivery of high-quality legal services.
Leverages strategic sourcing and eRfx processes to achieve optimal and efficient results. Leads and prepares negotiating team for fact-based negotiations with law firms and legal support suppliers.
Develops and prepares framework agreements with strategic law firms and legal support suppliers and coordinates and collaborates with Procurement Source to Pay organization and local Procurement country organizations worldwide to administer contracts with law firms and legal support suppliers.
Researches and understands legal markets globally, and understands trends and industry leading legal staffing and fee models for differing legal matter types. He/she demonstrates thorough knowledge of legal category and is a well-respected contact person in the legal industry.
Ensures proactive business partnering relationships with internal LPC stakeholders to understand their strategic business requirements and to work toward successful achievement of those requirements.

Assesses the risks and impacts of a number of options when considering a course of action; applies a systematic risk management approach for assessing and documenting the impact of issues and/or problems.
Monitors internal and external compliance on all procurement related activities to assure that business and ethical standards are consistently maintained and that Bayer's purchasing conduct meets the highest standard of integrity.
Leads business partnering and strategic sourcing initiatives, coordinate requirements and objectives with LPC stakeholders and support Bayer Procurement initiatives such as working capital improvements and initiatives to drive innovation and value delivery.
Work Relations:
The position reports either directly or functionally to the category head of Procurement Business Partnering Legal category.
The position collaborates with and is part of a global team located in various regions of the world.
The position leads business partnering and strategic sourcing initiatives and partners with LPC stakeholders globally and primarily in the US with direct interaction with US LPC senior management.
The position also will be responsible negotiating and interacting with strategic and key law firms for US legal services and strategic litigation support vendors and will be responsible for supplier management of such law firms and support vendors.

Qualifications:

JD or a MBA in Finance, Accounting, or Economics is required.
A minimum of seven years of professional experience and specific experience in driving change, performing and presenting financial analysis and reporting and strategic initiative development and implementation is required.
A minimum of seven years of experience proactively managing staffing for legal or project teams and managing budgets for the cost-effective and timely delivery of services is required.
A minimum of 2 years of procurement business partnering and strategic sourcing of professional services experience is preferred.
Project management training, skills and experience is strongly preferred.
Excellent knowledge and experience in business partnering and leading strategic sourcing initiatives.
Excellent financial analytical, negotiating, communication, presentation, change management, persuasion and influencing skills.
Demonstrated strong analytical decision-making skills, creative thought process and creative and innovative problem solving ability.
Fully fluent in English (verbal and written), is able to lead negotiations and draft contracts in English is required.
Fluency also in German is beneficial.
