Roles & Responsibilities/Expectations:
• Leading and supporting the construction contracting effort through all phases: source/market survey, solicitation, selection, award, administration, payment, and closeout
• Procuring (bid and award of) MEP Equipment for large construction/infrastructure projects and has administered these contracts post-award thru closeout
• Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Document Controls - maintain all formal project correspondence and draft correspondence to prevent claims/disputes
• Independently manage (primarily) equipment related contracts and change orders; reviewing the contracts and be able to provide insightful and relevant critique/comments
• Develops, implements, and maintains contracting and sourcing strategies and processes on multiple project
• Coordinate the scope of supply across multiple equipment vendor contracts and GC contracts
• Track and Status the Equipment Approval Requests, Purchase Orders and Owner Acceptance Process
• Review the documents for proper content and insure information is complete, accurate and issued in a timely manner
• Evaluates service provider performance against contract metrics
• Mitigates contract disputes on and provide oversight, guidance and technical expertise to contractors/AEs and suppliers in the administration of contracts
• Ability to trouble shoot quality / delivery issues in the field
• At times personally be present at the construction site and oversee work
• Execute contracts and engage vendors in a compliant manner per appropriate vendor qualification guidelines
• Periodically reviews existing contracts to ensure the contract rights & obligations are being properly administered
• Understands GMP, Lump Sum, NTE and other construction industry standard contract types (standard construction industry and Equipment Vendor T&Cs) and can provide project teams guidance on existing language based upon a contractual dispute/query. Example: Insurance Compliance, required submittals received, warranties, CDEs, etc.
• Experience in importing and exporting equipment into and out of countries around the world with a specific focus on the North America market
• Provides guidance to procurement and cross-functional teams in the process of contracting for goods/services to ensure the correct procurement processes are followed
• Update the procurement status with the general contractors on a weekly basis and provide weekly updates to senior leadership

• High-integrity - must be highly ethical and strong value-based individual focused on fairness and maintaining confidentiality
• The successful candidate will have a “sence of urgency” to issue resolution
• Time is of the essence in procurement and construction and the successful candidate will need to be able to determine the important must do tasks and sort deliverables to provide the greatest impact to the organization
• The successful candidate will be able to present and communicate complex processes and topics in a simplistic manner
• The role requires that the individual be based out of Redmond, WA Microsoft office, but will require job site visits on a regular basis
• Excellent communicator that can interact with diverse groups across organizational levels
• High-performer - able to fit the Microsoft “culture” by effectively multi-tasking and managing priorities
• Take initiative to ask questions and “brainstorm: with the team; must be able to seek clarification on MS processes and apply his/her own professional knowledge to the situation
• Fast learning curve - able to pick up new company processes/procedures/templates quickly

Experience required:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or construction, architecture, business, supply chain, operations
• 4+ years experience in project management such as procurement, contracts or construction management

Experience Desired:
• Familiarity with Data Centers, Construction industry
• High energy a drive to achieve results in midst of ambiguity and matrixed environment
• Comfortable with evaluating vendor capabilities from a perspective of meeting Safety, Quality, Cost and Schedule targets
• Technical ability to write contracts, ability to set up sourcing plans and negotiation strategies and execute them
• Excellent communicator that can interact with diverse groups across organizational levels
• Familiarity with common process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six-Sigma, etc.) and ability to facilitate change management
• Ability to implement new processes and get buy in from a cross functional team
