be located in Raynham, MA.

The Product Development Engineer will be
responsible for the following:
design and development aspects of a series of projects through all phases of the
product development process; planning and executing projects or portions of
projects from concept through commercialization, and into post-market
will execute specific design projects based on surgeon inputs, and will work
closely with sales and with cross-functional team members (marketing,
manufacturing, quality, regulatory, supply chain, etc.) as well as with surgeons,
to establish clinical inputs and solve design problems utilizing CAD
techniques, rapid and conventional prototyping, and other available

Product Development Engineer will develop layouts using CAD and tolerance analyses
utilizing GD&T, and will participate in design evaluations (such as engineering
calculations and FEA, simulated use testing, dry labs and wet tissue labs,
etc.) He/she will also support and
generate the documentation of clinical and surgical technique observations, to
create meaningful design solutions.
individual will also be involved with development and execution of design
verification and validation plans and testing and will support regulatory review
for US and global registration efforts as needed.
will participate in the design and development of complex mechanisms and will
work with manufacturing engineers and/or suppliers to optimize designs for
manufacturability and assembly, and will produce functioning prototypes and
supporting production documentation.
should demonstrate proficiency in the application of design controls and
development processes, and support the project leader with aspects of the
project management functions including scope definition, and contingency
individual should have a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage a
varied workload, exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills and
interface effectively with project teams, management and surgeons.
Product Development Engineer will also be expected to develop a working
knowledge of our product lines and detailed knowledge of various spinal
pathologies, and will be an active participant in sales training and/or in
providing ongoing product support to the field as needed.
minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or
Biomedical Engineering or other technical discipline is required. An Advanced
Degree is preferred.
minimum of 2 years of professional experience in engineering is required (not
including co-op, internship and research).
- Prior experience in New Product Development role is preferred.
working within a regulated industry is preferred; and Medical Device, Spine or
Orthopedic experience is preferred.
understanding of various types of manufacturing, mechanisms, materials, proper
tolerancing, drafting standards, and GD&T is required.
ability to develop creative solutions for design problems is required.
ability to work and execute projects tasks within a cross functional
environment is required.
experience working cross functional project teams, bringing products from
concept to launch, is preferred.
written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to
effectively communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals,
surgeons, customers and/ or teams.
knowledge of reviewing and assessing patents and intellectual property is
utilizing MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) is required.
of CAD software is required; Unigraphics/NX is preferred, or Creo (Pro-E),
Solid Works, AutoCAD, etc.
ability to look beyond conventional solutions and familiarity with technologies
extending beyond traditional orthopedic therapies and products is preferred.
ability to work within a cadaver lab and operating room setting is required.
position is to be located in Raynham, MA and may require up to 10% travel.
