The Janssen Oncology US business is currently generating $3.2B in revenue and is currently growing at 51%. In the last 4 years, the franchise has launched 4 new cancer therapeutics that are transforming the lives of cancer patients in the US. Over the next 5 years, the franchise expects to launch potentially 5 additional products and will grow in revenue, and represents the fastest growing franchise in Janssen North America Pharmaceuticals. Despite having sales that are fourth largest in Oncology, our customers do not yet recognize the company as a leader in this space. In addition, the Oncology market is rapidly moving from fee for service payment to new value based payment models which will require a different focus for the organization. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance our current approach with customers from a product brand approach to an overall Franchise approach.


This position within the Oncology Marketing Franchise Team will be responsible for supporting and shaping the field deployment early experience programs. His/her primary responsibility will be managing the franchise strategic engagement in the early experience markets. This person will manage all marketing activities and the design, planning and execution of the early experience Key Account Plan in collaboration with the brand marketing teams to support the overall franchise position in the oncology market. The Product Manager, Oncology must work closely with multiple functions including SCG, Brand Marketing, Franchise Marketing, Global Strategic Marketing, Sales, Sales training, Business Analytics, Strategic Customer Group, Medical Affairs, HECOR, R&D, North America Pharma affiliates, Alliance Management, Corporate Communications and outside vendors in order to effectively execute key commercial activities.

Essential Functions:
  • Support and shape the Oncology, Early Experience markets (e.g. Kaiser Permanente, Mayo Clinic and Partners Health System) by understanding value drivers, market dynamics and key customer insights to effectively identify priority partnership opportunities and value offerings to influential stakeholders
  • Partner with Early Experience teams to communicate local market insights back to the brand marketing teams and other internal stakeholders
  • Leverage insights from Janssen Oncology portfolio analytics and local market insights in order identify potential partnership and value-based care targeting /engagement opportunities
  • Lead all field sales activities for KAM team including Early Experience markets (SL&D collaboration, field engagement, field sales meeting leads, and oncology leadership).  Effectively collaborate across brands to create unique local market solutions addressing the unique marketplace needs/challenges across the portfolio of Janssen Oncology products
  • Critical support lead responsible for pull through of Top-2-Top executive engagements with Key Customers
  • Partner across solid brands to ensure KAM strategy is pulled through with strategic cross-functional alignment
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the evolving value based care landscape in Oncology and its relevance to the Janssen Oncology portfolio
  • Support GPD, Key Account Strategy in developing an integrated business plan and strategic plan for a franchise approach to top Tier 1 Key accounts (Early Experience sites). Utilize market research and portfolio analytics to properly plan franchise activities
  • Anticipate market and competitive trends across key accounts and support efforts to define strategies, positioning, and plans that allow the franchise to successfully compete

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Pharmaceutical Science or a related field is required; an MBA is preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years business experience is required, of which includes at least 2 years of successful and progressive experience in Sales, Marketing, Analytics, Managed Care Account Management, Pricing and/or related fields is required.
  • Practical knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing that includes FDA regulatory and legal environment and HCC regulations preferred
  • Experience in Oncology is preferred
  • Understanding of the healthcare industry, managed care, specialty pharmacy and/or coverage /reimbursement for Medicare Part B and D drugs preferred.
  • High level planning or business planning experience preferred.
  • Understanding of budgeting and financial practices as well as experience in marketing, forecasting, pricing, reimbursement and market research, preferred.
  • Must be innovative, proactive, and strong analytically with excellent overall business acumen.
  • Must be capable of managing and prioritizing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent overall Business acumen and strong analytical skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in a matrix and unstructured environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically. Can operate in two worlds - big picture orientation with attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal flexibility to effectively interact with a broad range of personnel. Advanced communication and presentation skills required.
  • Travel required: 20-30%, predominantly US with limited OUS travel
