Role Overview The Product Owner has responsibility to elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify, and manage the real needs of the project stakeholders, including customers and end users. The Product Owner serves as the conduit between the personas and stories and the software development team through which requirements flow. The Product Owner is involved at some level throughout the entire system or software development life cycle. Upon establishment of the requirements baseline, the focus is shifted towards the management of the product requirements and verifying the fulfillment of all requirements. Role Responsibilities -Work with the project manager, product manager, and/or project sponsor to document the product’s vision and the project’s scope -Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, event lists, business analysis, competitive product analysis, task and workflow analysis, and/or viewpoints -Write requirements specifications, epics and user stories according to standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely -Decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements and quality requirements, specified in an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by those who must base their work on the requirements -Define quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and other nonfunctional requirements -Lead requirements analysis and verification, ensuring that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable, and that they conform to standards -Participate in requirements prioritization -Participate in peer reviews and inspections of requirements documents, epics, user stories and software work products produced based on those requirements. -Enter, update, and report on requirements stored in a commercial requirements management tool; Define requirement attributes and facilitate their use throughout the project -Manage requirements traceability information, track requirements status throughout the project, and provide excellent visibility across stakeholders on current delivery status and future delivery plans. -Manage changes to baseline requirements through effective application of change control processes and tools -Establish and implement effective requirements practices, including use and continuous improvement of a requirements process; assist with the development of the organization’s requirements engineering policies, procedures, and tools As a managed security provider, SecureWorks expects its employees to understand and apply commonly known security practices and possess a working knowledge of applicable industry controls such as NIST 800-53. Employees will be expected to acknowledge their security responsibilities in writing prior to gaining access to company systems. Employees will be required to maintain a working knowledge of local security policies and execute general controls as assigned. Requirements -Bachelor’s degree and/or at least 7 years of relevant experience as a technology-related Product Owner, Business Analyst, Product Manager, or as Subject Matter Expert in the cybersecurity domain. -An understanding of contemporary requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, verification, and management practices in an Agile software development environment. -Knowledge of product management concepts and how enterprise software products are positioned and developed -Excellent two-way communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills, including interviewing skills for engaging with individuals and groups about their needs and ask the right questions to surface essential requirements information -Excellent Organizational and multi-tasking skills, to work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis and to cope with rapidly changing information -Excellent reporting skills for providing ongoing visibility to stakeholders on product delivery status and future delivery plans Preferences -Facilitation skills, to lead requirements elicitation workshops -Experience in the cybersecurity domain, especially managed security services -Observational skills, to validate data obtained via other techniques and expose new areas for elicitation -Writing/reporting skills, to communicate information effectively to customers, marketing, managers, and other stakeholder; Interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders (such as customers, product management, and engineering); Modeling skills, to represent requirements information in graphical forms that augment textual representations in natural language, including using modeling languages already established in the development organization -Able to understand the technical architecture of existing systems and components at a deep enough level that they this understanding can be used to translate business requirements into technical ones that are implementable by engineering Location: Atlanta, Providence, or Remote SecureWorks is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Prohibits Discrimination and Harassment of Any Kind:SecureWorks is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
