The Janssen Supply Chain – PM IT organization is recruiting for a Product Owner, Manufacturing and Detailed Scheduling. This organization supports different areas of the JSC Product Management Organization globally, in terms of Global Planning, Launch Management, Value Stream Management and Network Strategy. This position may be located in North America or Europe, may require up to 25% domestic and international travel.

Within this team, the Product Owner, Manufacturing and Detailed Scheduling will be the primary contact for the Fill-Finish Planning organization in Global Planning. Responsible for vision and priorities of new capabilities or enhancements to a product, platform, or feature/application. Builds strong partnerships with business at different levels of the organization. Communicates effectively with business partners, including senior leaders within IT and the business organizations. Finds and implement best practices.  Seeks out improvements that contribute to the development of the individual, and the team output. Leads and inspires others in the Credo and J&J business values.

He/She will lead the effort to design technical solutions that meets the business requirements.  Understands the business processes and work closely with the business partners to deliver new and optimize existing IT capabilities.  Must have a strong knowledge of the technology used to meet the business requirements. Partners with JSC IT Architecture to architect the business solution.  He/she has end-to-end responsibility for the IT solution.

The Product Owner, Manufacturing and Detailed Scheduling is the conduit between the business partners and the Scrum team, shares the product vision with the Scrum team, and prioritizes and manages the backlog.  Ensures Agile methodology is the primary option for delivering IT solutions. Responsible for delivering Epics and User Stories to the Scrum team.  Partners with the Scrum team to estimate the duration and cost of the project.  Schedules demos of the IT solution with the business partners. Plans, coordinates, follows up and supports the business during UAT and project Go Live/Cut Over activities.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

• Business requirements analysis

o Create Epics/User Stories

o Define Acceptance criteria

o Understand Product complexity and how to prioritize business requirements

o Understand development estimates and how levels of effort impact the priority of requirements

o Sprint Planning: Elaborates on stories

o Sprint Review: Approves new stories and adds regular feedback, includes business/stakeholders in product reviews to gain direct feedback

o Participate in retrospectives

o Monitor sprint metrics, release metrics, and usability test results

o Prioritize functionality for release

• Business IT interface

o Understand and anticipate the business’s needs and priorities

o Negotiate with the business to see what functionality (story points) are built and which are backlogged based on capacity, business value and priority

o Accountable for the product getting built correctly

• Lead various technical resources (IT shared services, vendors, consultants, Architecture, etc.) in identifying innovative solutions for improving availability and system performance

• Ensure compliance and adherence to all regulatory and business requirements and inspire a Credo driven team.

• Resolve business and technical challenges to deliver on time, cost and quality and to ensure realization of business benefits.

• Effectively communicate team expectations and status to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.

Additional Key Responsibilities:

• Understand business processes and goals. Defines the business value of the IT solution. Collaborates with the business stakeholders to prioritize demand.

• Set and manage Product, Platform or Feature/Application Strategy. Define clear vision for the Product and maximizes ROI by identifying and prioritizing the Product features. Collaborates with scrum master to estimate duration of development.

• Write the Epics/Stories that will be used by the Scrum teams to develop business solutions. 

• Collaborate with Scrum Master to estimate cost and duration of development.

• Accountable for the technical solution getting done correctly.

• Work with architecture to ensure the business solution is architected correctly. 

• Collaborate with project managers/scrum master to understand project status as well as ensure standard J&J IT project management methodology is used across all projects. 

• Explore new technologies to meet new business requirements and drive continuous improvement (CIPs) to the business. 

• Develop core capability offerings and new technologies to drive business value.

• Collaborate with BUIT counterparts in other sectors to share technologies and ideas

Qualifications

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.

• An advanced degree is strongly preferred.

• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required.

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant SAP/APO experience is required. 

• APS experience strongly preferred.

• Ability to translate business requirements into Technical Epics/Stories is required. 

• Experience working across multiple levels of business and IT stakeholders is preferred.

• Knowledge of technology trends and ability to apply this knowledge to existing business processes is required.

• Strong technology knowledge and how to apply that technology is required.

• Strong personal commitment to continuous business improvement, and effectively collaborating and managing our business stakeholders is preferred.

• Capable of working as part of a team and on own initiative is required.

• Capable of leading, coaching, and influencing others is required.

• Ability embrace changes and deliver IT solutions in a fast changing business/IT environment is preferred.

• Ability to work in an Agile environment, working closely with a shared services organization is preferred.

• Experience in working in a global, cross-functional capacity is required. 

• Strong problem solving, analytical and design skills are required. 

• Solid written, presentation and verbal communication skills are required. 

• Deep understanding of software development lifecycle (Agile/Scrum preferred) and SDLC is required.

• Strong knowledge on testing platform setup and testing execution using the HP ALM test tool platform is preferred.

• Strong knowledge on Change Management and tools such as Clear quest is preferred

• Strong knowledge of supply chain planning business processes and healthcare industry is preferred.

• Ability to adjust dialogue as needed to effectively communicate and influence at various levels of the organization, synthesize leadership and stakeholder inputs into product decisions for team and business partners is preferred.  

• Ability to leverage problem solving skills in making decisions and recommendations on various technologies and architectures needed to solve challenges around business requirements of the Product platforms is preferred.

• Experience in working in a global, cross-functional capacity is required.
