MetLife, a leader in the financial services industry, launched an investment management platform (MIM) in 2013 offering its investment expertise to external clients in 4 privately placed asset classes: private placement debt, infrastructure debt, commercial mortgages and real estate equity. As part of an additional strategic growth initiative, MIM is now expanding its investment offerings into several public corporate credit investment asset classes: public high yield bonds; emerging market debt; and long duration corporate debt. This growth has created the need for an experienced Product Specialist who will be responsible for client relationships for our public corporate credit investment accounts. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join a growing business within a well-established financial firm.

The Product Specialist will be a key contributor/driver to building a world class service organization for our MIM clients.  This will include having direct client management responsibilities such as daily, ongoing client interaction, oversight of portfolio reporting and responding to ad hoc client inquiries. In addition, the Product Specialist will be directly involved in helping to win new business by assisting with RFP’s and preparing pitch materials.  The Product Specialist will report to senior Client Portfolio Managers and interact on a regular basis with our investment management clients as well as MIM’s sales and operations teams.

  • Develop a deep understanding of our client’s business, investment objectives, investment guidelines and portfolio composition.
  • Become fully conversant in MIM’s investment capabilities, market views and portfolio strategies. Work closely with credit analysts and portfolio managers to understand the market and communicate portfolio strategies to MIM clients.
  • Communicate/liaise with clients by telephone or in person, as needed. Provide portfolio information and answer other questions on a timely and accurate basis. Oversee operational issues to ensure they are effectively resolved by relevant parties.
  • Manage quarterly client reporting packages; make recommendations for improvement/automation.
  • Conduct market and portfolio analyses as needed.
  • Build and strengthen client relationships through ongoing contact, professionalism and high level of responsiveness and proactive effort.

  • 3-5 years+ of experience working at an investment management firm in a client-facing role.
  • Understanding of public fixed income credit markets.
  • Knowledge of general economic conditions and their impact upon global corporate credit fundamental and technical market conditions.
  • Superior interpersonal and oral and written communication/presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated and well-organized, with the capability to work within a team.
