Program Manager I
Oversees and directs all aspects of program management for assigned product development programs. Interfaces with all levels of internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of planning, scheduling, organizing, directing and controlling the program. Actively develops and manages project schedules and prepares project status reports; works to ensure plans adhere to product requirements and schedules.
What you will do
•Leadership: Motivate the team to meet commitments to the established timing. Build team technically and personally through mentoring and coaching. Resolve conflicts between team members, departments, and external stakeholders. Negotiate with internal and external groups and vendors. Ability to identify root cause of a problem, develop corrective action and lead team to resolution.
•Development Team Management: Act as the central communication point for the team to ensure that each team member is aware of their deliverables and timing commitments at all times. Trains and coaches the team in JCI Product Launch process to ensure compliance. Manages the team to meet timing, cost, manufacturing, quality and cost targets. Establishes the team meeting cadence and monitors attendance to assure the correct team members are present at each meeting. Creates agenda, schedules meetings and keeps the meeting on task. Provides team information needed to perform tasks.
How you will do it
•Scope Management: Communicate the impact of scope changes to the stakeholders in a timely manner in terms of cost, timing, product, quality of execution and impact on the program. Differentiate scope changes from engineering changes. Manage the risk of scope changes and keep management informed of change and effect on the program.
•Timing: Ability to create work breakdown structure with milestones/deliverables used as the foundation. Gate timing developed from timeline that meets JCI commitments. The timeline and related timing documents are consistent. Program timeline is utilized to clearly communicate deliverables and due dates. Responsible for gate exit reviews being held on time. Create issue lists that are clear and concise with due dates and deliverables.
•Global Management Skills: Function in a different culture while matching his/her interpersonal style to the culture they are working in. Has awareness and respect for different culture. Demonstrate an interest in other cultures.
What we look for
• Technical undergraduate degree
• PMP certification desired
• Five (5) years working experience in Engineering and/or Manufacturing/Quality departments
• Three (3) years prior project/program management experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of product development process
• Working knowledge of Program Management process and tools
• Demonstrated ability to inspire and influence others
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Strong conflict management and critical thinking skills
• Strong attention to detail
