Electronic Payments Strategy, Project Manager

As a Project Manager on the Payments Strategy team, this person will be responsible for managing new business initiatives and process improvement strategies to include coordinating, communicating and implementing strategies and other activities to compliance, legal, systems, training, operations, other business units, support teams and web payment strategy. This will require working closely with every stakeholder in Headquarters and Operations with particular interaction with CMA stakeholders and systems, CSE stakeholders and systems, Payment Services, Business Technology, Field Operations Teams, and other Business Enterprise Solutions teams. This person will also leverage Legal and Compliance business partners to make sure the Payment process maximizes payment performance while minimizing risk.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and communicate implementation of Payment, eBill, and Credit Balance Refund strategies to compliance, legal, systems, training, operations, other business units, support teams and web collection strategy
  • Responsible for electronic ACH payments originated by Discover cardmembers through internal and external systems
  • NACHA Operating Guidelines and rule changes
  • Support annual DirectPay Audit
  • Support annual NACHA Self-Assessment
  • Support/Manage Continuous improvements in systems development and implementations
  • Provide updated documentation of electronic ACH payment processes originated by Discover cardmembers through internal and external systems
  • Manage customer impacts / irritants / complaints related to payments; research / provide the business response and remediation plan for all complaints Manage 3rd Party Payment provider relationships adhering to Vendor Management practices and policy
  • Manage multiple projects at once, negotiate time lines with multiple business partners, and communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Responsible for handling Payment remediation efforts for customers with Operational Risk, Business Technology, Legal/Compliance and any other applicable business partners
  • Ongoing Payment process management, compliance support, communication, to strategy/field partners
  • Serve as Ownership and Business Liaison of Payment Applications and Reporting Support Operations and Head Quarters on payments initiatives and processes
  • Promote a risk-aware culture; ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes

  • 2+ years of Payment Processing and Regulatory experience
  • Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of ACH and electronic payment processing
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access)

  • 3-5 years of experience in Project Management or Technical product life cycle development
  • NACHA certified
  • Previous Project Management experience
  • Experience working with Business Technology
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
