Job Summary:
The Proposal Writer Sr is responsible for utilizing project management tools and principles; developing strategic and consistent messaging that enhances our ability to differentiate and win new business; developing proposal templates, related presentation materials and supporting tools/modular content as directed by leadership. S/he also acts as a pursuit material senior writer and quality control reviewer for pursuits to which s/he is assigned, and assists with training and coaching to key internal stakeholders to promote proposal-related best practices.
Essential Duties:
Provide project management support and strategic input to pursuit teams and other stakeholders to support creation of high impact proposals focused on prospect needs:
Drive discussions with pursuit teams on proposal “win themes” and other strategic messages and incorporate as appropriate
Maintain clear communication with team on proposal-development progress, including outstanding items required for timely completion
Draft original content and provide substantive edits based on firm’s style and brand guidelines and approved sources of information
Review the final production materials to ensure that message quality, format and content meet the stated objective and are consistent with Firmwide strategy and communication guidelines
Manage document production or ensure smooth handoff to administrative personnel for final edits and printing
Assist proposal manager and senior director, research and strategy in coaching local ICS and ECS resources on proposal related best practices.
Maintain proposal log with key information, upload completed documents, and follow up with pursuit lead regarding outcomes.
Take active role in various national proposal team initiatives and projects to improve Firmwide proposal quality and efficiency. This may include responsibility for the development and periodic revision of modular content (e.g., pursuit resource guides) as directed by national proposal team leadership.
Education:
BS/BA in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or English
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of business writing experience, including the development of proposals in a professional services environment
Technical Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Understanding of Associated Press (AP) style
Ability to communicate both verbally and written with diverse audiences
Ability to develop proposals and presentations that effectively communicate complex and/or distinctive concepts in a clear, concise manner
Detail-oriented; productive without compromising quality
Strong project management, organizational, critical thinking and time management skills
Leadership Skills:
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize to meet daily deadlines and capable of operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage internal client expectations
Ability to train, coach and advise others utilizing department approved tools and frameworks
